Default Track Day Z Project

Hi all just wanted to introduce myself and my new project. 03 Track model Z. 67k miles on it. My wife and I will be double driving this car HPDE and time trial events. Its a purely a, for fun, car. We both have been tracking two cars at events for a while and figured it would be easier and more fun to share a car. So here goes.

Day 1 In the garage. PO didn't really care for the car, but its pretty untouched. Just very dirty and needing some love.

Plan is to KISS. Keep it simple stupid. With reliability and safety #1.
I have safety gear from my other track cars. Going to make a roll bar.

First purchase, new BFG Rivals! 245/40 all around.

To buy list: Suggestions welcome, just the basic get on track asap stuff.
Safety Gear
Redline MT85 for trans and diff
Amsoil engine oil
ATE fluid
Drivers side side mount seat mount with sliders. Fixed passenger
Oil cooler. 34 Row (13" x 1 1/4" x 10 1/4") Setrab
Track Pads + SS lines
New Wheel bearings and ARP studs
Koyo Rad

More to come!

I am still a track novice, but my favorite track mod so far (other than sticky tires) is adjustable sway bars to tune out the understeer a little.

Since you have a SSR banner hanging, I'd recommend the SSR Type F wheels

One of my favorite wheels for the Z. Especially on the Ruined Z.

Are you towing your car or driving it to the track? That could make a difference in what the level of prep will be. One item to consider is the use of an adjustable upper control arm, so you can gain some additional front camber and avoid wearing out those BFGs too quickly.

Before I'd make too many mods I'd look at the TT rules where you want to play. It's fun to do stuff for HPDE fun, but it sucks when you find out you have to undo 50% of it to get into any type of competition.

And I completely agree. I remember being bumped to the next class becuase the car I had at the time had a CAI. It was on the car when I bought it but still, sucked. I don't plan to make the same mistake. Looking to prep my Z for BSP.

Right, car will be towed. Its only purpose will be track toy. We have other cars for weekend sunny day runs.

What brand of camber arms do you guys recommend?

TT events we do are based on points systems. All the stuff I listed are 0 points so far. But yes I know exactly what you mean, my current track car is a modded 91 MR2 with 380hp and pretty much every track mod that one can find.
Its very finicky but when it runs right is VERY fast. It bumps me into the most extreme class, so yea. Trying to avoid that!
Guys on the east coast may know EMRA club, for their TT events?

I started out competing in the EMRA TT series back in the 80's. Many good memories of running at Summit Point, Pocono and Lime Rock with them. As for UCAs, SPL makes a nice set that will hold up nicely.

+1, but read the rules first. Whiteline may have to work depending on the rules.

New BFG's showed up, then it snowed!

Also got some basic maintenance stuff to go on this week.
More interesting stuff soon, going to testing out the Planted side mounted seats brackets. Will post up my impressions.
