What do you think these 2 cars are worth?
Looking at possibly picking up a 350z. One is well cared for with a very knowledgeable owner, 04 coupe 6sp manual all stock except for radio, 74k miles and a very small rust spot above the rear tire fender. Asking $8500. I think KBB lists this at about $6000 as trade.
Second one is an 05 convertible, 6sp manual, 83000 miles. Had a small fender bender (according to owner) and due to age and value the insurance company deemed the car totaled and cut the guy a check. It's all fixed, looks good but has a rebuilt title. Asking $6800.
Any thoughts on these two cars and the price?
TIA

I would say over priced as well... But my dad just started looking at G's and Z's...
All these idiots want $8-12k for a 150 mi+ car...
And most of them have the same story of how the title is in their "cousins" name or some random story but a shady floating title. These people are high.
Even salvaged guys want $7k for a stock G/Z... mine is Boosted and I'd only ask $8-10... and I have a $8k kit lmao

I'm reasonably sure my expectations are unrealistic. Still considering a 350z but it was to be the right car and the right deal. Honestly, I'm looking for someone that needs to sell a well cared for car ASAP for $5000. I know, insane to think it'll happen but often times cash talks. I know over the years this has worked out well for me. Not all the time but I've picked up a few toys from people who just need to sell or are tired of trying to sell, etc.

I think the problem with that idea is nobody with a well cared for Z is going to sell their car that cheaply because they will probably just trade it into the dealership for that kinda price.

Here are a few more. I agree my expectations are a bit unrealistic, but you never know and I love the thrill of the chase.

But, I hate to be the one to break it to you but I think you're dreaming. And while dreams do come true sometimes, I think if you're waiting for a well cared for, good condition Z, non-salvage for $5k, ehhh, well, you're going to be waiting a while.
And that's good for the existing owners who may want to sell their cars one day.
Just a dose of reality: in local craigslist, there's roughly 100 Zs for sale (no joke). A quick look revealed only 2 that were at or under $5k and those were salvage and very high mile cars - one saying "Buyer to smog" which is a huge red flag because legally the seller must smog unless spelled out that it's on the buyer and agreed to by same.
(And I will never go through that lunacy again... stupid me bought an out-of-state old car where they don't do CA legal smog so I had to address it. NEVER again.)
Sweet spot (average price) seems to be between $7000-9000 (asking prices) depending on year and mileage.
So, wake up from the dream because as they say, "You gotta pay to play." Or sit it out for another couple of years. (But by then, the good ones will be considered "classics" and push the market up again. Yeeeehaaaaa!! Laff....)

I agree 100% that this won't come to reality. I'm always on the prowl for a toy, a boat, jet ski, stereo stuff and this week it happens to be a Z. I'd really like to get a Z32TT but I'm not ready for that yet. Something more reliable is better suited for me right now.
Also, supply and demand, with 100 Z's for sale I guarantee one of those sellers will be desperate and/or fed up with the game and need to dump their car. Thats where cold hard cash is king. This is strictly a game for me and if the right deal comes along then I'll jump on it. If it's not a Z it'll be a boat. No biggie to me.
It doesn't have to be exactly $5,000. All depends on the car and if I think the deal is worth it. Maybe it's 6k, 7k. Definitely no more than 7k, thats for sure.

The problem with your scenario is when decent cars dip for low prices their are plenty of people who also have cash laying around that will be happy to buy them... Why would Craig have 2 cars he is selling... In addition to his own car. Lots of people are always looking for good deal's... When they show up you need to act fast.
