Engine Build Opinions
What's up guys, hope everyone is doing good!
So my Z (2003 DE 116k miles) finally started consuming every drop of oil. Been through 5 qts in around 500 miles.
Im debating between three options and would just like some input/opinions and what you would do in my position.
Keep in mind, this car is my track/canyon toy. Not a daily.
Option 1: Buy a used motor, swap it in and be done with it.
Cheapest, quickest method but risk running into oil consumption later down the road again.
Option 2: Stage 1 Short Block from Imports Part Pro
Looking at around $3500 installed.
Option 3: Stage 2 Long Block from Imports Part Pro
Will run me around $8500 but I'll be ready to boost and I'm pretty sure it'll be solid and reliable motor if I stay N/A and abuse the heck out of it.
What would you do?

Option 4: assess and rebuild current engine. Farm out the work you cannot do (headwork, mag crank, etc.), but put your hands on honing cylinders, re-ringing pistons and the like before reassembly. The amount you learn: priceless.

As as much as I would love to do that, where I'm living right now I don't have a space to work on my car at my own pace. And it's not something I would want to rush!
hence why I'm willing to buy a completed long block and slap it in. Quick process.

I'd spend the money on going to an actual track and learning driving techniques with instructors with stock power instead of hooning on the canyons and street racing.
Hard parking at parking lots and going to meets, um You can do that without a built motor, I'm not understanding your logic here.
Building a motor is not a quick slap it in process. It's highly encouraged to change the water/oil pump, timing chain, run good head gaskets and ARP hardware. And since you are in an area that you can't work on your car, it will be difficult.
If its not a daily and you do plan to build it, I would suggest doing it the more sensible way getting a reputable shop to replace with another stock motor or replace with a built block, and tune it.

1. Who are you to assume I don't know "driving techniques"?
i dont street race nor do I condone it.
going on a canyon drive with friends to friends doesn't necessarily mean we "hoon"
2. Hard parking? Im sorry that we have a good time meeting up, shooting the sh*t and grabbing some food and hanging with friends or meeting some new enthusiasts. Nobody said that's what I want a built motor for.
3. Another dumbass, if you actually knew which motors I'm talking about purchasing, you would know it has everything you named. Me buying a built and complete motor is quick and easy for me because all I have to do is take it to a mechanic shop, and swap in the motor.

Wow.... what the hell triggered that?? Good advice? Lawdy, the sky IS falling...
OP, if you can't take advice - whether like it or not, smile or scowl - I would suggest that you study oneself. There was nothing accusatory nor demeaning in any of this thread's statements; just facts that while you don't agree with, are solid facts and suggestions.
On this or any forum or real life interaction, there will ALWAYS be things one doesn't agree with. Doesn't make them "wrong".

If you really want to laugh your *** off about something it's how you poorly maintained your vehicle in the first place to get to the point would where you burn oil soo quickly. Your compression must be damn near non existent.
But if meets and occasional hooning is your goal, wasting money on a built motor you will fail to maintain thru regular oil checks is an idiotic decision.
Get another stock motor and "Slap it in" Learn from your mistakes and stop being an emotional person being triggered and responding with 3 posts because you think I'm a meanie, and understand the context of my comment.
