Default My poor Z :( RIP (probably)

So I got smashed in an intersection by a lady with her headlights off, it's probably going to be a total loss on my 06 enthusiast. She hit me in front of the front passenger wheel, jacked up the quarter panel, bumper and hood, which also messed up the driver side quarter. Both airbags deployed. A real bummer, I just rebuilt the entire front end minus shocks and was about to do billstien b16 coilovers. Had Nismo style V2 spoiler and skirts, nismo cat back, and CAI. Spent 3k making paint perfect, and another 3 on rims, not to mention the custom sub box and amp rack plus audio equipment. I am probably only going to get 6 to 8 k out of progressive, anyone have suggestions on what I might get next? I'm tempted to just get another z... but starting over makes me want to vomit. Have been eyeing an STI. I haven't driven one but it just doesn't have the same appeal as a Z. Everyone is like it's just a car, they don't get it!

Sorry for your loss brother. I'd go with another Z because I love the car and actually enjoy working on them (I've seen some whine that they are a PITA to work on but I get the feeling they never had to work on early/mid 80's American cars).

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Sucks man, my TSX went out the same way I was devastated. Destroyed my OEM Accord Euro R parts.

Not to be that guy, cause I know it sucks, but if you keep those Nismo skirts I will drive to Virginia and buy them off you i've been trying to hunt a set.

As a tip I have a 2018 STI as my daily driver, while I love it cause of the winter right now and the luxuries like heated seats and the radio, its a bit lack luster to the 2007 Audi A4 I had in between, but the STI has the fun factor the Audi didn't.

However, there is always a joy I get jumping into my (mostly) stock 350z with berk res. test pipes, AAM comp single catback, Sparco Evo, and Potenza RE11s and ripping her up the high way. Granted the STI has no Cobb, no mods and is stock. It is however the better all around daily of course. Gas mileage sucks still (about 17-19 MPG mixed).

I am actually in PA for a work contract, hour north of Philly. I find out if it's totalled prob tomorrow, if so I'll see if they will let me get at it and I will rip out anything that isn't nailed down. I'd definitely be happy to see any chunks of her ride on!

Glad to hear, I've literally been on a hunt for a set that's not Duraflex and it is impossible! She's a beaut though, I love the OEM V2 kit. I was lucky to source rear spats I need to get painted. If I get these I can pull the trigger on a KBD V2 front and some canards and get it over to paint!

Thanks man, any questions for an STI and Z owner feel free!

If you are referring to the kit as shown in the picture then it is a version 1 kit not version 2.

You may be right, may be just the wing I thought was v2? I'm no expert. Either way, I'm pissed.

Dude that's not bad at all.

I'm sure if you have insurance they will total that but that looks like a pretty easy fix.

This was mine and it only cost me $500 in parts to fix.

Did your airbags deploy?

Passenger only. Only thing I haven't replaced yet.

Don't ever ride with anyone so it's low on my list.

Sure looks like more than 500 worth of damage! Care to share the details of your collision? Did insurance help with body work or are you just good at it, because I am not, nor do I have a place to work on it anymore.

Can I buy your skirts and spoiler?

From my experience both air bag deployment = totaled. Insurance will give you money on estimate and mark it as salvage title, they will give you a buy back price and deduct it from your claim amount. Then you'll have to make sure frame is good, air bags are replaced and then take it for 360 point inspection to get rebuilt title depending on your states regulations. In my state you can't register a salvage title. But you'll have all the claim money to fix the car at a shop.
But really, can I buy your skirts and spoiler?

I didn't crash it. I bought it at auction crashed. And I did all the work my self.

Rad supports were like $200
Rad was $60 on eBay
Lights were $200
Hood was $100

$560 give or take. Front bumper, OEM fans were salvageable. I changed the oil and belts but that wasn't needed just matinance to play it safe.

The accident doesn't look bad at all. I would try and see if its reasonable to buy back from insurance and build a nice fun car. Looks like a 40mph hit if that.

Did the police assign fault?

If Progressive goes low, collect your receipts, photograph everything and call an attorney to go after the lady who hit you to recoup your losses (as much as the courts will allow for anyway.)

Good ol America^

That's how my aunt lost her business, house and tons of other sht because some fat lazy POS cut her off and she barely hit them.

They went after everything she had because of the "trauma" it took on his living state. And they literally took just about everything.

Now she has a second hand car and sht apartment with a regular dead end job. Sucks to work so hard and have it stripped away because of a small incident she never even meant to do.

If he's out cash due to someone's negligence, he's due what he's owed if he can prove it. I'm not for chasing ambulances, but I'm absolutely for the principle of making someone whole if their insurance company is trying to short change them. Mic knows what that's like with the whole Shiro fiasco.

Jesus that sounds like some capital fraud at its finest. Sorry to hear that. I'm all for getting what your owed but to ruin someone's entire way of life is a scumbag move.
