What do you mean Build sheet? Like what he can do to make power, is it already modded and your looking at who did it? We need a little more info about the car and what you're looking for?

He is looking at a 2005 Nissan 300Z Automatic listed on Craiglist in Chicago and I wanted to get a factory build sheet for this specific car to see what its original color and specs were as delivered by Nissan.

The car is stock and he is not planning any mods as of now but before he buys I wanted to see the actual factory build sheet

Any idea where to get one.

The VIN is JN1AZ34D05M602828

You can do that yourself here... https://www.dmv.org/vehicle-history/...ory-report.php

You can also decode the VIN yourself by going here and playing a game of "match the numbers":

Does Carfaux even log JDM cars that never touch American soil? Because that's what the one the OP is looking at most likely is.

The car is in Chicago, probably a $4000 salvage title disaster. Why would you care about how Nissan originally put it together. It's an automatic, I bet the cool Japanese dudes putting them together didn't even care about the build sheet.

It's my understanding that build sheets - like in the old days - are not something you'll find INSIDE of a mass production car nowadays and Nissan, IIRC specifically did not leave them in cars, even back in the day, even when paper build sheets WERE used.

Part of the reason is that with robotics and all of the technology used to produce cars (QR, bar code, huge DBs, etc linking the car to the main computers responsible for tying together the various assembly procedures), the traditional build sheet went away pretty quickly.

What you can do, however, is (as was suggested in other posts here - and is likely the closest you're going to get to a build sheet) is to decode the VIN. You can use the one here on our site: https://my350z.com/forum/vindecoder.php

Or, you can go outside to one of slightly more comprehensive VIN decoders like: https://www.vindecoderz.com/

(But know that every web based decoder is a front to sell you a "carfax" type report.) But the basic info you can get without buying the report is usually enough for a Z-car with precious little (meaning "zilch") optioning available; rather, one specs their vehicle by trim levels. (And you can find what's in those anywhere.)

As for the color, just ask the dealer/seller for the paint code on the door plate.

The OP is confusing a "build sheet" for a monroney sticker; the window sticker listing options and MSRP pricing on new cars. Only the original owners get those...
