Default Turbo Oil Help!

Hi all,

I have a boosted performance single turbo kit that I had bought used and have some oil issues ever since. Now they are at their worst and I知 not sure what else to do.

The scavenging pump is working as it should, there is a good seal from the turbo to the drain tank. I have a -4An feed line with a check valve and the feed is looped before connecting.

The turbo center section is covered in oil and it splatters everywhere, I知 sure some is pushed through the cold side piping because it痴 coming through the blow off valve before but seems to have stopped. There is a small quarter sized puddle when I park the car usually also.

The precision turbo is just over a year old and less than 5k miles, so I知 not sure if it痴 that either.

I am away at college now and was trying to get some suggestions before I head home next.

I would confirm / deny where the oil is coming from ... take the cold and hot sides off and see if there is oil inside either. Take your feed and scavenge lines off and confirm there are no obstructions in either and verify that the pump is functioning. I would also check all your connections. And if you have screw-type AN fittings check that you aren't leaking oil between the fitting and the hose, consider cutting 1" off the hose and rebuild the hose.

Also verify that the oil isn't coming from somewhere else and dripping on the turbo/lines causing a false diagnosis...

post some pictures if you can...

Does this turbo require an oil restrictor or no?

It痴 a precision 6262 journal bearing so need for a restrictor. And I will post pictures next time I go home from School and do a complete line check through the system.

The good thing with an oil leak is that it leaves a trail of where it's coming from ... sometimes it takes a little detective work but you can always trace it back to it's source.

what school do you attend? what are you studying?

So decided to go head and made time to go home to see if I could track down the issue.

well... learned a lesson to not buy cheap an fittings, went to barely tighten the feed line and it completely snapped.

Im hoping this was the problem atleast, car will be down till parts come in and I can go home for Labor Day. Checked the scavenge pump lines and pump works great, sprayed oil freaking everywhere. Feed line is pretty new and wasn稚 a problem there besides the snapped 90 degree.
