RRR, May 2-3 - You're invited.
Hello. Yep, me again - I'm back.
Yes, the Dark Side will be back at Roebling Road Raceway for May 2-3 and the track is hosting a lapping day for us on May 1. We are looking for two instructors that are very familiar with the 350zx. We already have two students signed up, and I thought it would be nice if they could have someone who understood their car. Registration is online at clubregistration.net Instructors are $100 (but they must be approved - know Stacy King?) Non-Members $250/Members of the Dark Side $225. We are also known for our BBQ and live entertainment from the sweet sounds of Annie Allman at the track Saturday night. I hope you will consider. If you know of any instructors that know that turbo - please point them in our direction - we are good folks - we'll get you testimonials... :-) Hope to see you at the track. Jackie |
I group of us are considering this event. One in the group is an instructor who could fill your needs. I will let him know.

6 or 7 of us from the Charlotte area are planning to attend. Well, I am counting Lightning Guy in that total.

Savanah and RRR makes a great combination. Just hope we don't get the post hurricane price of gas this time. Last year we paid $4.78/gal that weekend, and I went through 4 or 5 tanks of gas and killed a set of Hoosiers running with PCA.

That would be great. Then we can hold a friendly competition about who brought more - MX-8s, Zs, BMWs, etc.

Oh my, I just recently learned that if anyone has a 350z Convertible - they'll need to put a real roll bar in to participate. The "rollbar" on the 350z convertible is just decoration and not a real one....

If you need another instructor, just let me know. I am open.

How do the registration numbers look for this event? If my financials look ok, I'll be interested in running this event.

Um, I wouldn't get your hopes if you plan on buying gas at the track. I was there a couple weekends ago and I think guys were paying around $8.50-$9.00 per gallon. And to add insult to injury, its CASH only at the track. Thankfully we showed up with about 5 cans of gas and the car completely full. |

We were paying that at the gas station on the highway, I would not touch track gas for thier prices. Benefit of being a weak NA car is I can still run on pump gas all day long. |

LOl, Thats why you guys need a car that gets 25 MPG on TRACK. 15 gallons keeps me going all weekend. |

even in my NA 350Z i would still use a touch more then a full tank of gas in one day...but then again thats about 16 gallons a day compared to about 6 gallons per 25min session :)
but then again, the lap times aren't even comparable I loved roebling road and would love to go back, i think i need to look into instructing. :dunno: |

Jackie,
Just and FYI...The 350Z is a N/A car, and the 300ZX is a Turbo car. As far as turbo cars go it depends on the car. While the basics remain the same, some of the details will change with turbos, especially ones with large after market ones. The delay in response can be tough to handle and unexpected if the turbo's come on boost mid-corner. If the Driver is a Novice or there about, what we will start with is throttle moderation at track out. That way we can smooth the power output and have a better exit. If the driver is more advance then we would discuss left foot braking to keep the boost at a higher level and then carry it through out the turn. In truth though it would be between the driver and their instructor. Each car is different and some deffinately have their quirks. We try to match the experience of the instructor with the student and the car they will be in. We don't have a classroom session to talk about the difference of each per say. What we do talk about is vehicle dynamics so that the student will understand what is going on when and be able to handle the situation and keep themselves safe. Did that make any sense? |
