I think she's going to do it... Altima Coupe

Glenda (my GF) is about to buy a new NISSAN after some coaxing from dkmura and input from GaryM05. She originally wanted a Murano, but David gave her some good reasons to consider the Altima Coupe. I also gave here the Altima article that Dave wrote for Nissan Sport Magazine and that sparked all sorts of research - Glenda never does research.

Thanks for your input guys - I tried to get her interested in the Altima months ago but I guess it didn't sink in until someone more respectable had something to say. :icon22:

I'll post photos if this becomes a reality.

Respectable !? :icon11: WHO would that be?:icon18:

he means someone faster.

She should get a G37 coupe....;)

Altima coupe looks like the G35/37, but the 35/37 is nicer!

Plus then she could bring it to NASA in May, and we could all drool over the VQ37HR engine!

And than she can boost it and be the first G37TT in Colorado. :thumbup2:

Congrats if she does. Curious to how David & Gary sold her on the Altima coupe over the Murano.

dkmura Mar 22, 2008 12:23 PM

Glenda is very level-headed about making this purchase. She's not looking to spend G37 $$$, but wants a great, stylish car for both the street and TRACK (yea!). We talked about the Altima coupe because of its outstanding FWD performance and styling. I think it's one of the best looking coupes out there--not just a warmed-over sedan. With gas prices certain to rise, the Altima Coupe also makes better sense in terms of operating costs down the road. Finally, how many times a year do you REALLY need an AWD SUV? Five days? Six? While Nissan does an excellent job with the latest Murano, a good set of snow tires (mounted on a separate set of rims) extends the range you can operate a FWD car.

Robert_K Mar 22, 2008 12:47 PM

Oh OK. This makes a little more sense. My wife want the Murano due to our two large dogs and other various reasons. Also Ada, sadly, won't be joining us racing at track days. ;)

Dave hit all the main points regarding the coupe vs. SUV scenario. I'm glad she picked the Altima too - it's very comfortable, stylin', good handling and performance, easy on gas, etc...

Unfortunately there was a snag with financing and she can't get that reconciled until the banks open on Monday. The car color and package she wanted wasn't at the dealership either but they are supposed to have the exact match being shipped in the next delivery from the factory which should have been today. We'll know more on Monday.

We both wish she had the money for a G! :) Her financial station may dictate she get the 2.5 litre Altima versus the 3.5. Apparently heated seats are more important than horse power! Girls...:icon22:

Dave 90TT Mar 22, 2008 04:51 PM

Actually, I just priced out a fully loaded G37 coupe the other day. Pushing $45k!!!!! I'll just say I paid over $10k less than that for my G35, brand new.

dkmura Mar 24, 2008 01:39 PM

Joel- please let Glenda know that the Bluetooth option is already included in the convenience package she's considering. When I talked with her, it sounded as though she wanted that particular option, but lamented that she'd have to purchase the (pricey) technology package to get it!

It's a done deal as of this afternoon. Glenda is part of the Nissan family! :)

Between the Altima and the Murano I would have gone with the Murano, but that's me. As long as Glenda likes her new car that's all that matters.

dkmura Mar 24, 2008 02:32 PM

Congrats! That's a sweet machine that Glenda will be styling with for years to come...

Now let's talk about mods...or helmets! LOL

Dave 90TT Mar 24, 2008 03:16 PM

Congrats! Tell us the full details of what she got...color, package, etc...

Take some pics, too.

Hopefully she got heated seats, which are quite possibly the best thing since sliced bread. Not that sliced bread is all that great, but heated seats on a cold morning are awesome.

The specs are:

'08 Altima Coupe
2.5 L S trim
Precision Grey Metallic
Premium Package = Sun roof, BOSE 6 CD changer, Leather Heated Seats, Blue-Tooth, Multi Zone Climate Control, Keyless Entry/Start.

There may be a remote start on the vehicle too - we're trying to figure out how that works.

good pick, I got a white one for a DD 2.5L. Got a few minor mods and i'll be done with it. Find some 06+ wheels makes the world's difference

Robert_K Mar 25, 2008 12:56 AM

Congrats to both of you. :thumbup2:

That Altima Coupe will fit in just fine with a group shot of Zs!
