where's the love??

I know this has been posted a few times...but there was this SB touring Z that went out of his was to get a away from me. It was on Reseda Blvd around 7ish. I past by this black Z and looked to give the thumbs up but no acknowledgment. Well except for the fact that he accelerated quickly and cut off the car infront of me, went all the way to the right most lane and stopped at the light. Thinking he was gonna make a right turn instead he cut infront of 6 cars to get to the front and went off. Driving normally caught up to the guy but then made a quick left  WTF was that. I never got that before, WEIRD. I was just talking to BoostTed and it seems like we get more love from STI, Evo, and S2K than some Z's especially the ones that are bone stock Z's. Oh well, no worries.

Anyone else have the same experince?

I usually follow them and keep waving until they wave back.

ZxRage Nov 30, 2004 02:18 PM

Yea, I have encountered this a few times. I don't know if other people are intimidated or maybe they are just too busy trying to drive straight, but you would figure that after driving behind them or beside them for a while that they would at least look over...

Nope, they just keep on cruizing...

I also get this with flashing the headlights to people to say hi. I think only about 15% have flashed back. Now that really sucks.

Bertg Nov 30, 2004 03:46 PM

I try to give a thmbs up or wave when I see another Z. Some people just don't want to wave back. Oh well, no biggie.

BoostTed Nov 30, 2004 05:22 PM

I get a lot more love from other owners than Z owners. Most of the people who give me a thumbs up or a wave or a compliment are in normal stock cars.

I had a women in her 30-40's give me a thumbs up and rolled down her window and talk to me...man if only i didnt have to be somewhere :(

And a few days ago I had a guy on the freeway yell out a compliment.

I think ive only gotten a wave or a flash from another Z owner like twice ever.

He probably thought you wanted to race him. Something similar happened to me last night as I was going home in Baldwin Park. I'm going down Arrow Hwy (a 50 MPH street) and see a pair of G35 headlights in my rearview. I make a hard right (like I always do on turns) onto my street and all of a sudden he's on my ***. Then he tries to go around me but is slowed down my a slow car. I speed up to let him by, look over at him as he pulls up, and he keeps on going without any sort of acknowledgement. It was a nice blue G35C, too, with big rims.

You get no love because more people that own a Z are more likely to be an "average person", unlike the STi or Evo where the community is more enthused.

Etka Nov 30, 2004 10:12 PM

I get no love from any Z owners, I live in a fairly rich area but I am not rich and Ill see other Zs go by and Ill wave but nobody has ever waved back. Its usually an elderly couple in a bone stock Z that I see but still shoot a wave.

Most of the 350Z people have so dark of tint

- no one can see in side...

Cheers Amy :) - :)

hm its about 50/50 for me. If I'm driving and I see a stock Z I try to acknowledge them......modded ones nearly always acknowledge and usually even are down to have a quick run or two.

They're just not part/aware of the z community. Happens to me all the time; no biggie. Makes it that much better when they do respond.

The reason why is because STI's, Evo's and S2000's are only offered in manual transmission trim, which makes it harder for the office-working, my sh!t don't stink smiling, I'm trying to look richer than I am, Frappacino drinkin' and cell-phone talking while at the same time driving, corporate tool f*ckin' yuppie @sshole to drive properly. Therefore, you will find more @ssholes in a Z than an Evo because any @sshole can drive an automatic.

But, like Z Boy says, it makes the true Z enthusiasts shine and makes it that much more unique.

My thoughts...

no disrespect meant for Z owners with auto tranny...I'd be more than happy to admit that if the Z came with paddle shifters, I'd probably have went auto myself.

It's just that soccer moms and office yuppies can't drive anything other than auto tranny, so the Z being offered with auto opens up a huge door to undesirables.

Ah well, at least everyone on here is a driving enthusiast.....or a scammer, but that's a whole 'nother topic.

A - Freakin- Men!

I need to find you at the meet next time and shake your hand cuz you've got my sentiment down to the last "t". :p

I hate to stereotype but gawt dayam it if I had a dollar for all the times I've seen what you've described above, I'd be well into a new set of wheels and a turbo kit. :o

lunartick13 Dec 2, 2004 06:16 PM

WOW, and I thought it was just me, I live in an area of maybe 8,000 people and Z`s are far and few and I always when ever I see a Z, I wave or give the thumbs up or flick the lights most of the time I get zero responce, what is up with that?

frenzee Dec 2, 2004 10:02 PM

Yeah, same here. After almost two years and 25k miles of driving, it seems 99% of the Z drivers out there won't acknowledge you. Don't know what's up with that.

350fanatic Dec 2, 2004 10:22 PM

hahah i dont really wave or thumbs up unless the other Z drivers waves first or has a bad *** lookin car

i see a lot of old farts in Zz
