jut got ticketed for my tint.
some of you guys might have already seen this in the main forum but i got so many rude, non-applicable answers that ive decided to post here since usually the so.cal crowd is a lot nicer haha. so just an overview...i got a ticket last night for my tint (5% all around) and the cop said i had 24hrs to correct the violation. he also noted that my car was unsafe to drive and i was told that i couldnt drive my car until the violation was corrected. my question is: what would happen if i were to correct the violation and then re-install the tint on my car and got pulled over again? i know i know, many of you are just going to advise me not to put the tint back on or to have a lighter shade(even thought i picked 5% for a reason =P) so get over it any relative answers will be appreciated

remove the tint and ask the person doing your tint for a discount cuz u want to retint after you get your ticket signed off. I'm pretty sure you'll just get another fix it ticket if you get caught again but 5% is pretty much limo tint dude. i think 20% is dark enough.

20% is sufficient. Had my Z for 7 months now and no tickets. My last car an accord coupe, I got 5 tickets in the 3 years I had it. 3 from one town, and the other 2 by state trooper in my area. Nicer looking cars dont get as many tickets lol.

F**K it, did he impound your car? If not don't worry about it. I have had 3 tickets for the same thing, and they say the samething over and over. Just pay the ticket, and keep the tint.

dang. i dont know how you guys do it in NJ but i usually just get the fix it ticket signed off and a cop usually checks the car to see if i actually took the tint off.
BTW project, if you want to save money. You could ask a friend that has the same Z color with no or light tint and jsut switch your plates then show the cop. Worked on my friend's TC.

All tint is illegal. I had some very light tint on my Z that was on it when I bought my car used. Its so light that I didnt even realize it was tinted until 3 months after I bought the car sitting in traffic with the windows cracked.
Irvine PD pulled me over and gave me a fix it ticket. No option to pay more and not correct it.

for removal, you'll have to leave your car for the business day, or wait for it for a few hours. theyre extra careful about removing tint.

I got pulled over for both no front plates and window tint many times. They are correctable offenses and you can just "fix" it and put it back on after the ticket is paid. It's like $10 for the court fee. You can take it to a local CHP office to have them sign off on the correction for free. The court usually charges you another $10 to check the correction.
