Chebosto Nov 17, 2008 08:45 AM

i saw a lot of Zs in the parking lot... even parked next to an all white Amuze kit'd car w/ wing and gold CE28s on Sat... (then it got all ashy)

well, it was a good event, but biased imho... guess who won?

allmotorking Nov 17, 2008 11:00 AM

I caught the finals and didn't see any bias. Rhys was coming into turn 1 faster than Dai, He followed a lot closer in the chase position and Dai spun. Unless there's some conspiracy going around about team orders, this one was pretty clear cut. Rhys deserved the win.

It was fun seeing all the international drivers at this event. Hands down, Mad Mike's 4 rotor FD was screaming. It sounded like an F1 car. hehe.

g35pm Nov 17, 2008 11:27 AM

Ueo should have been given the nod against Dai and not have gone OMT.

How convenient that Dai lost to his boss in the Final. ahaha. "Dai...I'll give you a healthy bonus if you make it look good, then spin last second..."

Sick event though. I hope they can bring it back to the same spot next year. Loving that course.

Rhys Millen won the title of "World Champion" at the inaugural Red Bull Drifting World Championship. History was made with the top drifters from around the world competing for the largest prize purse in drifting history at the Port of Long Beach.

17 past and present drifting champions from the top drifting organizations in the world gathered in Long Beach, CA for the first Red Bull Drifting World Championship. First place qualifier Rhys Millen and his Red Bull Pontiac Solstice outperformed the competition to win the largest single prize of $25,000 in drifting history. Teammate Daijiro Yoshihara and his Bridgestone / RMR Pontiac GTO took home the 2nd place prize of $15,000 and the 2007 and 2008 Formula DRIFT champion, Tanner Foust and the Rockstar / AEM Nissan 350Z took home 3rd place overall and $10,000.

too bad Tanner didn't beat everyone.. how hilarious would it have been a Rockstar energy drink car winning a Redbull event? :P
