It's a good thing our cops can drive.
Scroll down and click the video on the left. And they say they'll need to determine whether he was at fault or not.

What an idiot! Did he hit that other car in the video right before he spun out? Looked like he would have slid into it after spinning, but you can't see in the camera.
wow, what a dumba$$!
what a nub
No I don't think he hit the other car. He just made an ass of himself right in front of them though.
He'll get a promotion for this, or at least some paid leave/aka paid vacation.
so what, he was just trying to do his job and rush to respond to backup.. nobody was hurt, this shouldn't have even made it into a news room
he probably should have slowed down before entering the hill but he was on his way to backup another officer. i'll be suprised if he is punished for this.
If my bud called for assist and wasn't answering back i'd be hauling arse too. lame driver and lame rubber though
Bad road to haul on. I think I've driven on there before and a cop is usually on the other side when you come down the hill.

He was not wrong in rushing to help a fellow officer. However, when was the last time you saw an ambulance traveling at 100mph? What if he killed a family by running red lights at 85mph? Was he wrong? Not totally. Was he using poor judgment? Yes. |
He should have gone to an HPDE then he'd know how to drive
EMS units top out at 95....And yes I've seen one going that fast for quite a while.
The patrol unit he was driving tops out at about 130. 100 in that car running code is not uncommon. However he should have been aware and familiar with the roadways and how fast he could take the turn. It looked like he was trying to avoid the car that was on the outside of the turn causing him to have to use his brakes, which in turn (no pun intended) caused him to lose traction to the rear tires (specifically the right rear). He then over-corrected for his mistake (easy to do at those speeds). If he was staying to the left like he should have been and maybe 10mph slower this wouldn't have happened. Either way none of us where in the car with him that night so it’s hard to say what was going on. Everyone makes mistakes – even cops – no one was seriously hurt and that’s all that matters. And if a lesson was learned, then this should improve his future performance. |
Hey man it happens to the best of us. These dudes are trained for high rate of speeds and he just happened to push it just a bit too much.
I would just like to say to the comment about what if he hit a family in a vehicle -- what if the other cop had been in serious trouble and the only way to get there in time to save his life was to speed like that... Cops have families and loved ones to. They are brothers, Sisters, Fathers, Mothers, Sons, Daughters to, and they risk their lives everyday for us. If you don't believe that, go to your local PD and sign up for a ride along.
Well he never did get to that other cop did he? So in the end, speeding only compounded the problem.

I posted this simply to be a sarcastic take on something ironic. :dunno:

So going 85mph through a red light and taking a crown victoria to 100mph around an inclining curve is smart?
