Richness Q's
Ok, so I had a fuel leak from my fuel tap for the n2o. It was leaking for close to a week (yea yea, I know). Anyway, I got it fixed. Well from what people have told me, my car is running rich as hell.
The reason I ask this here, I have the utec and have been learning to do my own tuning (mad props to the guys that can, this stuff is nuts!). Anyway, I haven't changed anything utec wise for the fuel, so I am thinking that the ECU upped the fuel flow in response to the leak? Is this a valid assumption? Should I reset the ECU? Is it worth it? Or should I be looking for something else. Maybe I should wait and just put in the wideband and get a better idea? I was running fine before the leak, so im not sure what the deal is. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! |
my theory is this, unless the fuel leak was major, more than a few drops every second or two. you shouldnt have any problem with the computer altering the fuel injectors. its a returnless fuel system so it just constantly flows fuel into the rail and the injectors use a little of it as needed.
i think you should be fine... |
Even if your ECU did sense that leak, and up fuel pressure changing A/F's, your UTEC @ WOT overrides EVERYTHING the ECU is doing-meaning whatever A/F maps yor running is what your getting....
Your best bet and best investment as far as tuning A/F will be to get that WB, datalog and go from there. |
Yea, I think your right Bert. Just a bit frustrated cause I haven't adjusted any of the A/F ratios. So the UTEC is doing something naughty I think. Also, Tony mentioned that he could smell my exhaust really bad on the way up. Im headed home right now to A) do an oil change (cause I hit the miles driving home) and B) see if I can get some tuning done. Maybe hit up my friend and try and get the WB put in (if hes home I can use his welder).
Thanks for the info guys! |
