anyone dyno'd a 2006 350z automatic baseline?

Hey Guys,

Just wondering if anyone has actually dynoed a 2006 350z automatic (so non REV UP)? I wanted to see some results compared to mine as I put on strup headers and a few other mods and wanted to see how much I actually gained.

Thanks in advance!

I dyno'd my 2006 AT a couple weeks ago, but it turned out my 1-step colder plugs from last year were fouled, and I have a velocity funnel behind the grill that had a flex tube up to the CAI filter, and the tubbing was kinked and cutting off air flow.
The graph looked liked an earthquake instead of a solid line.
I didn't know why at the time, so I ran it AS IS just to see.
I made one NA pass and it only came in at 213hp/212tq.
Even though the graph showed that I had problems, I made a couple more runs with nitrous and only pulled a 290hp/316tq.
I've since then replaced the plugs and removed the velocity funnel set-up.
I'll dyno it again next month.

Mines pretty much stock except for CAI and UTEC w/tune, and nitrous on demand.

240 hp and 217 Tq with 5/16 spacer, nismo catback, K&N drop in, UR underdrive pulley, and Berk HFC (When I was still N/A). When it comes down to it, autos dyno low. Performance wise the only reason we are so close if not same to manuals is because most manual drivers suck.

On a good note, When i swapped out my crappy nismo catback to a true dual exhaust and put in a popcharger I felt definite improvement on the ass dyno

Also, you will get different results depending on If you are using a Dynojet/ Dyno Dynamics/ Dyna Pack / Mustang dyno ect

hey guys,

wow, thanks for posting your dyno slips, you guys are great.

Anyways, mine is a 06 with 22k...and my mods are:

K&N drop in filter, MD spacer, MREV2, unichip, strup ceramic coated headers, and lastly...stock sized performance pullies, 3 piece set from unorthodox racing (not sure if they didnt anything?).

230 HP, and i think 220 tq at the wheels, corrected. dynod on a dynojet.

Is this about what you would expect from an automatic?

ill post the dyno graph as soon as i can.

Thanks!

I don't think the MRev2 does much for us...

Your probly looking at a good 15+ WHP from a true dual exhaust and testpipes. If you get a pop charger I think you can pull a few more hp on the dyno but theres issues with heatsoak for daily driving.

If I remember correctly, Mrev2 actually loses HP on the non rev up?

Here's my dyno of the earthquake with the bad plugs and choking air intake.

The powerband was dropping at 5500 RPM's

Pathetic isn't it.

hey all,

here's my dyno graph as promised.

Thanks

Hmmm,
overmind22 your's is kind of shaky also, but not as bad as mine.
I guess I need to get mine done again and see what happens, now that I've replaced plugs and air intake.
c3rolling's is a lot smoother.
I wonder if it is a Dyno thing?

iStan Mar 13, 2008 03:12 PM

^It's the smoothing the computer is set to. overmind22 is set to 5, c3rolling is 5, garym 0

yeah, but everyone else that day at the Nissan Meet had the same hook-up to the dyno, but their graphs were smooth. A couple other 350Z's dyno'd before and after me and we compared. Mine was the only one that looked like that.

iStan Mar 13, 2008 10:50 PM

I just realized you were on NO2. Other NO2 graphs look like that at the dyno day?

garym Mar 14, 2008 08:10 AM

The top 2 runs are on a 75hp shot of NOS (one run Map-0 @ 276.hp, other Map-1 tune @ 289HP).
But my concern was the NA run that only hit 212hp and is all over the graph. I can see that NOS might cause irregularity, but the NA run on Map-0 should have been smoother. I'll see what happens next time now that it has new plugs and redone air intake.

I was the only car running NOS that I know of.
There was a 300Z TT there that I heard came close to 600rwhp after I left. But I didn't hear of any other NOS cars.

I finally had a chance to check out the gains from the unichip and the strup headers...boy, it made a huge difference around 3000 RPM...The torque seems to be much improved...

The unichip and the Strup headers netted about 11.5 horsepower as a combo...per my dyno chart from Dynojet.

We are going to install the pulstar plugs next week and see if we see any gains...

240WHP/240WTQ stock (unless you count a popcharger).

garym Mar 15, 2008 12:45 PM

I'd be interested in the results of the Pulstar.
I have a feeling they'll be like all the others, Splitfire and the other ones that claimed a boost, but didn't do anything in the end.

Nice numbers

its amazing the difference in stock to stock for 350zs...My buddy says...sometimes you get a motor made on a wednesday, great motor, and then sometimes you get a motor built on a friday (good luck)...

garym Mar 17, 2008 10:14 AM

I think mine was made on a Monday when no one wanted to work.

:p
