DE Motor Osiris Tune

Ok right now I'm N/A My mods are

Motordyne 5/16 plenum spacer
Stillen Test pipe
Stillen Y-pipe
Jwt Popcharger
Nismo Catback

My Mechanic says he would Do the tune for $650 my question is will it be worth it with these mods or should I wait until I do a little more..I'm not to worried about the numbers I get from the tune I just want to know will I feel a significant difference coming from the DE engine

JERZ350 10-03-2011 05:08 AM

Not sure what else you would plan on doing NA....other than headers (which aren't really worth the $$). If you plan on staying NA, then I would say go for it.

ZYAL8TR 03 10-03-2011 05:35 AM

Yea I plan on staying NA for a while I am looking for a set of headers at a decent price but I'm going for a lighweight flywheel and clutch before that n also thinking about 100shit next spring

^ potty mouth...lol jk jk... I had my car tuned when I was N/A with an intake, exhaust, headers, and test pipes. I made 3whp off of it lol. However, it was a horrible tune and the shop (performance motorsport) claimed they did tons of AT before but when I got there they were like give me some time to work with it b/c we dont get that many AT SMH. Take it to a reputable shop and im sure you'll be satisfied.

ZYAL8TR 03 10-03-2011 07:31 AM

Lol that is so discouraging...did you ever get it retuned???but I'm getting mine done at hills garage he has a pretty good rep

djamps 10-03-2011 07:46 AM

You'll get more than 3whp at hills pretty much guaranteed. All the tunes I've seen come out of there 10-30whp higher. If you plan on doing headers wait until they are installed before you tune.

amossa 10-03-2011 07:56 AM

I'd say a tune is worth it at this point. Maybe get a a pulley set from AMS or Unorthodox if you're looking for some additional NA bolt-ons.

Also, have you considered getting a Cobb accessport? Might be a more feasible option if you can find an unmarried one for cheap in the marketplace/locally. Stage 2 and 2+ tunes are available on Cobb's site and are intended for setups like yours.

ZYAL8TR 03 10-03-2011 08:11 AM

@djamps I thought about that but I heard the price of headers and istallation isn't worth it on NA =/

@amossa I'm not familiar with cobb thingy I've heard of it tho is that a form of tuning?? Which wouldn't make it compatible with osiris or am I wrong??? And I've also heard changing ur pulleys can sometime mess up your A/C or is that underdrive pulleys

ZYAL8TR 03 10-03-2011 08:58 AM

I see cobb is a tuning method like I thought...do think I wanna go that route tho

ZYAL8TR 03 10-03-2011 08:58 AM

*don't think I wanna go that route

hellsoldiers08 10-03-2011 09:04 AM

cobb no longer supports Z. go with uprev and call it a day.

Yea I just read that about cobb imma go uprev

Viksz33 10-03-2011 09:12 AM

IMHO don't buy headers (worthless) get the tune from a good shop. The bolt ons u have will be fine for power. For a vq35 what exhaust you run and intake doesn't really matter unless you really car about 2whp,just go with what sounds best; which the nismo is a great choice. As I said your setup is fine and a tune will be a great improvement, but remember go to a good tuner. I would also stay away from cobb, a few of my friends and brother had problems such as bad ecu, due to the cobb tuner. Just my 2cents

ZYAL8TR 03 10-03-2011 09:22 AM

Ok everyone is saying stay away from headers so I won't be hardheaded definatly going to take that advice and save some money I'm going to go with uprev soon as I can and post my numbers...thanx for everyones imput

silvertouringz 10-03-2011 09:39 AM

i have the cobb and its great! i also have stillen headers and love them :)

ZYAL8TR 03 10-03-2011 09:44 AM

You know what kinda numbers your putting out?

djamps 10-03-2011 11:03 AM

I think the turnoff on headers is mainly the labor and cost... but if you really want to maximize your setup and have no plans for F/I I think headers are a great idea if you've got the budget for them. Just be sure to get tuned after you install them because they will require tuning avoid lean conditions.

I see that you live in maryland as do I. can i ask if your going to a place called Hill's garage? I have all the same mods that you do but i do have the osiris tune on my car. i pucked up 30whp from the tune alone. My car was running real lean when i went in there and on a baseline dyno i made 235, i walked out with 265 with "bad gas" in the car.
