Need more info, Boost?, Fuel System Details? ECT ECT ECT

Best to show a log

If it's Knocking in an area, it's 1 of 3 things , or a combination of them

1. Ignition timing, too much advance

2. AFR's, to Lean

3. Fuel Octane

Hey Old Man, pulled more timing and made a 3rd and 4th pull. More info- Greddy TT, 93 pump gas, walbro with factory rails, intake air 82,660cc injectors. First pic 3rd gear with no knock, second pic 4th with knock. Not taking higher than 5000 till i get the timing right. I know you are going to wear me out about the factory rails but go ahead and school me
3rd

4th

Your timing is very low. At 5k rpm I'm at like 13 timing at full boost and that's still conservative. 7.5 used to be the lowest my car would see, but that has been changed. I think I'm at 15ish around 5k now

This was my VERY conservative timing table before I advanced it more. I did not knock with this.

What plugs are you using?
I'm using 2-step colder copper NGK's

One step colder NGK-before i retarded timing it was breaking the 275 tires loose in 3rd gear at 4000-but this is a stock motor so im trying to be gentle

Hey Old Man where are you? Hope you didnt kick the bucket Anyway this isnt my daily driver so i like to experiment. I put 4 gallons of E85 on top of a half tank of premium. Ran it for a while, adjusted K up to get back to my afr's, put timing back to 55 (13 degrees) and shes back to spinning the tires in 3rd with no knock. I have tortured this car for 6 months with zero mechanical issues. I have been a GM man since 1986. No more. Nissan Forever

With your boost range you should be about 15-18 BTDC.

To little Timing can cause problems as well.

And with your setup a CJM Stage 2 full system is needed. What pump to you have? If you already know I will give you Crap about the stock fuel rails and Walbro pump, what is it that you already know?

I think their is some else going on, because 5-7 BTDC is just way to little. Also, why are your AFR's so much Leaner in 4th Gear? Hard to tell without a Boost Log.

I wonder if you have a bad knock sensor?
Could be False knock?
Is the Stock ECU pulling Ignition Timing? Based on your chart No.
Is this the Stock knock sensor?
Do you actually Hear Knock?

Could be a Bad Fuel Injector.

This is want I would do.

Verify that you have Real Knock.

Verify All Injectors are working Properly.

Unless you are going to tune for e85, drain the tank and start with a fresh tank of 93 pump.

Don't know if you have changed Cam Timing, but if so put that all back to stock specs.

Make AFR's 11.5-11.8.
Look into getting a CJM Stage 2, + Pump? This will cure so many Tuning Headaches you won't even believe it.

Are you still coming after me? LOL

Hope this helps

TimRod
