who's getting a private plate?
Who's getting their Z a private plate?
|
anybody?
I'm thinking about it. I've never spent £800 on something so useless though!! :D |
Why do you have to purchase a private plate? Doesn't the U.K. allow you to apply for a plate and see if it is allocated?
I couldn't believe the prices for some of these plates held by the resellers!! |

Those reseller prices however are pretty silly. I think some plates fetch a lot, but most of the resellers just price above and beyond to keep the market 'exciting'. You can get good fun plates direct from the DVLA from £299. Just so happens that the ones I like are all £799 instead! :P |

Not sure if everyones aware (who hasn't purchased already from wherever) DVLA have started the release of 53 plates(thanks again Veilside for valuable info).
Some of the plates available May 1-31 are only available in May....which means from 1 June if they ain't purchased they go into DVLA's back catalogue for sale at future auctions (text shown in blue when you search for such plates). Main point is that there are 500+ "SOZ" plates that work quite well with a couple of initials and "53" in front of them for potenial 350Z owners (with a squint) The majority are priced at £399 including VAT and transfer, and are ONLY available in May. Also the mix of initials on offer from the DVLA is far greater than June (when pre reg is normally offered for the next series) Check it out if you haven't done it yet, but are thinking about it [URL=http://www.dvla-som.co.uk/search/index.php] Also any 'ordinary' letter-number-letter combos if you want 3 initials are always cheaper at DVLA (VAT & transfer inc), unless you are after a dateless plate Jez |
Girlracer, Jez is spot on there...
For some reason (maybe your love of fast cars) I can just see you with NO 53 SOZ (NOS 350Z)... that would be one fast car :D |
I'm still not sure about the 5 as an S thing... I think I'm gonna go a different route... you will see!!! :D
I like V6 DNA uklooney - that was cool. Can't find any more V6 plates that make much sense though! |

We're getting quite a "cool"ection |
Giles, have you purchased that fella?
I wonder how many of the first 450 Z's will have private plates? |
Bought the plate way back in November last year...
It was really freaking me out when we were having to wait for order confirmation -> what could I do if I didn't get the car, I already had the plate? I suppose I could always of sold it! Your plate will look really good, I get the feeling we may get some interest from Nissan (if their Marketing people are worth their salt) considering the plate adverts in the States. Have fun :) |
I hadn't heard of the adverts, but I've been to the US Nissan site and they have a gallery of Z plates. It's not the same there though - you can just go out and get 'MY 350Z' for a plate. Us Brits have to be much more inventive! :D
|
btw - that was me (above).
|
My Z will be wearing R8 FUN ( reight fun - Yorkshire lad! )
I have had it for 5 years, previously on Griff 500 & Evo 5, I expect the 350 to be just as entertaining. |
