The 2007's VLSD is.......

well , i am wondering if some of the HR motor guys have tried or installed an aftermarket LSD. I presume that the LSD is the same as 03-06, however, i am going to get rid of my stock VLSD, that thing is No good to me, it does not engage the both wheels all the time, it does weird things, so what do you think about a 100% lock, what would be good for the 07.

Carbonetics. Great super predictable lockup and silent like a dead baby.

If you don't mind the clap... get a Nismo since they're more durable than Kaaz/Tomei/Cusco as far as DD goes

I totally heart my VLSD, locks up very nicely and is very predictable.

The stock VLSD is cr@p. Total and utter cr@p. Drive a Z with a real LSD and then tell me otherwise.

Nismo LSD with Motul diff fluid is very smooth, 99% quiet and is simply awesome . Day and night difference compared to the stock VLSD. Rear end is a lot more controllable when power oversteering or you get the rear going sideways.

I've driven Z's with 2-ways and its super easy to kick out, but my VLSD does the job!
Example with mine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axriScIHxEY

Sure, VLSD > no LSD. Gotta be dumb to argue that.

VLSD = PIECE OF **** LSD

Not even worth having, it's just an open diff that likes to change its mind every now and then.

Im very happy with my nismo lsd, i jsut regret not putting in the 4.083 fd gear

Get any clutch-type lsd and you will be happy. I know a lot of people complain about the noise, but all you have to do is change the oil every 3k miles. + You can change the locking% so it will fit your needs which is a big plus.

how are the nismo lsd compared to the caronetics in terms of adjustability? i heard nismo's lsd has 3 levels of locking % and doesn't need to be taken apart.

very interested in this topic.....so the 07 diff is the same as the other years. any vendors here have these aftermarket diffs?

That's the preload, not locking %. To adjust locking % you have to take it apart and rearrange the clutch plates.

i see. so what is the difference between those two? in terms of what they do?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limited_slip_differential

Preload is how much load is applied to the clutch packs when you're in say.. neutral and not under throttle. Less preload allows for more throttle input before the LSD locks. Locking % should be fairly self explanatory. Some else more versed in LSD's can give you better details.
