K&N Filter results

Well today I got my K&Ns installed. I'll post the dyno chart as soon as I'm done with my sound system

Base line 3 runs average - WHP255.89 WTQ 217.05
Filters 3 runs average - WHP 258.04 WTQ 219.41

Run conditions - 95F 30.32 in-HG Humidity 33%

Overall not bad. Thats more then what I thought it would be for just filters. The butt dyno couldn't tell a difference, the engine sounds the same. However my mileage did go up a little, and I beat a Cobalt turbo with and upgraded turbo, IC and flywheel clutch from a dig and at a roll at 65 (I dont think the filters made any difference beating that kid). Not bad for $100.00 plus $72 for the dyno runs

Good info. How much did your mileage go up? Looking forward to seeing the dyno graphs.

sweet... do they have that at their showroom? I like finding these random performance part stores in cali that carry the goods.

infinite 07-21-2008 04:23 PM

I just ordered K&N's along with a nismo thermostat... can't go wrong at that price. A cooler engine bay to reduce the hot engine temperatures along with california's heat.

I wanted to try Injen CAI, but i've seen only good results with the stock intake and k&n's.

Smackin 07-21-2008 06:15 PM

I just ordered mine today also... cant beat the prices over at Stillen. Cant wait to get them in.

KManZ 07-23-2008 04:11 AM

This will be my next upgrade once it's time to change my air filters. Screw paying over $100 for nothing more than sound :gotowned:

I haven't noticed a change in sound at all actually

infinite 07-23-2008 04:29 PM

If I wanted sound I'd get a system or an exhaust lol

xNeo 07-23-2008 06:39 PM

Ok, perfect thread. HONEST opion. My car is little over a year old and the stock filters, well, time to go. Should I just buy the K&N filter, or go with an whole after market intak Like Nismo, JWT, Stillen. Honeslty money isn't a factor, if I can get a little more performance and cool/sound factor that'll put a smile on my face then I'm happy.

When I say money isn't a factor, I mean if I have to spend more to get more, then I will. But if everything else really is nothing but a waste and does the same thing then I'll just get the K&N.

infinite 07-23-2008 06:57 PM

I haven't seen anything negative about K&N, but I haven't seen any dynos of the Injen CAI. In the long run I think the Injen CAI, will be better once once mods like performance HR camshafts come about, the internally stock engine is only going to breathe what it needs. the k&n filters gives it just that and a little more. When you can increase compression, V/E, redline etc... then the other intakes will do better.

jgregory124 07-23-2008 08:05 PM

I got 4whp just by doing the filters........great bang for the buck
