I said I'd trade 4hp for awesome sound, but Rob wants to try some stuff to see if we can keep all the power with zero rasp. I told him to go for it. I have other cars to drive while they play with mine.

He also asked if they can display it in their booth for the week at the San Jose Auto Show and I agreed. So maybe by the end of next week I'll get it back again.

Not sure what to do with the rasp. The power is awesome though. Can't wait to do a dyno tune.

Infinite and A.H; do you guys have the 1st gen bassani or the 2nd gen bassani? I think the 2nd gen bassani's have visible resonators inside the Exhaust tips. There may have been enough of a change to the 2nd gen Bassani that it has no rasp with HFC's or TP's- this is just speculation on my part.
I have the Fast Intentions Intimidator, not the bassani. It's all good though. Glad to see progress

I'm now tempted to upgrade to the Stillen HFCs after seeing this graph.
However, being that I live in Cali and we do get smogged.

Are these HFCs CARB approved/legal?

Will they pass smog checks? Meaning...do they pollute more?

From what I have heard the Stillen HFC's are NOT CARB legal, they are 49-state legal, Cali being the only one where they do not pass emissions.

How prone to hydrolock is this setup?

Also, is bumper removal necessary for installation?

The filters are place up high in the bumper, Your interior would be an aquarium first.

I dunno about Hydrolock. I live in Cali, but the filters are behind the Aluminum brace behind the bumper cover so I think Hydrolock would be tough unless you roll through 2' deep stream crossings OK, Maybe 1-foot deep at speed is enough to do it... realy, i don't think it'ss be an issue.

Yeah, you'll need to remove the bumper.

Rasp is history!!! Rob @ z-car garage tweaked my exhaust to get a really nice, evil low-tone with zero rasp once it is warmed up. I dunno exactly what he did, but it worked. It cost me about 5 hp and 3.5 tq, but I'll make that trade any day. I am now at 292 WHP and 257 WTQ. It just sounded bad before - and now, I cen;t get ehough of it.

Rob had my car for a week or so in the shop to do some testing with different parts (I have other cars to drive). He is going to make his own HFC's and is determined to get all of the flow of the Stillen HFC, but none of the rasp. Can't wait to try it. Not sure when it'll be ready though.

The car has been feeling stronger and stronger as I drive it though. If that's possible.

For now, loving the sound and power. Really, it's a big difference over stock. Definitely pulls harder in each gear. Traction in 1st is becoming an issue if the pavement is not warm. I have to be very careful in 2nd gear going around a sweeping corner - The rear end really likes to come out!

I think it's getting faster every time I drive it - if that's possible.

I am bugging the crap out of Rob - talking about tuning every time I see him

I wanna see 310 WHP at least and 270 WTQ!!! - we'll see.

Yet still we have the worst air quality!!! I Effing hate Cali for their emissions laws - you can't even legally install a cleaner-running engine if it's not the engine that came in your car from the factory! If it was not for CARB BS (It's a racket!), I would TT my car this summer. The only way to get any real power increase in Cali is to buy a new car - what BS.

As it is, Nissan has nothing in between the 330 HP 370z (Which is not enough of an upgrade from the 350z to warrant my trade) and the 480 HP GTR. Nissan is missing a big step in their line-up. There's too big of disparity between a $40k 332 HP car and an $85k 480 HP car. What if I am willing to spend more $$ on a 400 HP sports car? I have to shop a different manufacturer... Just sayin. (Hmm a used C6 Z06 can be had for ~$50k - If I could get over the interior)

For now though, thankfully, z Car Garage is here to help me get my speed fix in the HRZ - until I decide what my next move is.

I'll ask Santa for a 4.5l, 400HP V8 in the Z34. That's what I really want!

Water is a natural product of combustion. You'd need to almost completely submerge the filters to hydrolock. You're car would be totaled at that point anyway.

I dunno if it's from the intakes. Could be the HFCs. could just be the combo of the intakes, HFC's and Exhaust is just leaning out the mixture too much. It could be a hundred other things too. I'll have more info later today.

Sorry, I must have jinxed you on Saturaday

I have a feeling it might be the Cats, You might need to stuff the tube with some brillow wire stuff (hit me up I have a whole bag of the none powder having kind).

It definitely is leaning, you need a tune with the setup you have. Like I said on Saturday, I plan on going to TechnoSaquare in March after I get all my stuff installed. If Rob can tune by then I will try him first (since its close by) but if not I will take the 6 hour drive to Torrance.

Thanks for the ride BTW. Huge difference from stock

You would actually have to submerge both filters to hydrolock the HR engine.

Plus, I saw on a website that they offer hydro-lock shields if you are worried about the rain water hitting them.
