Unfortunately if you get pulled over, they'll impound your car and send it to the crusher.

No warranty for You

Can anyone answer this question?

cdoxp800 Jan 31, 2009 12:26 PM

Yes. Nissan can Void the Warranty. How ever they have to prove that the HFC cause the prob.
There is a Law that protects you. I just can not think of that name. I am sure someone here knows it.

It also depends on how "mod friendly" your Nissan dealer is. There are a few dealers that don't mind aftermarket parts on your car and won't void your warranty, while others are really strict about that. So try to find a dealer that is mod friendly.

I believe it's called the "lemon law." In which you have to prove that the malfunction was directly caused by a modification, if not then your warranty is still valid..

Ummmm.....no? The lemon law states that if there is a manufacturer defect with your car that the dealer can't replace within a certain amount of time or tries, the dealer has to buy your car back. That's totally different

Replacing oem cats prior to their failure with an non oem spec replacement is a Felony Violation of the US Clean Air Act. Why you are warned they are for off road use only and illegal on street.
No dealership is required to work on a vehicle where the emission system has been tampered with by changing the cats or other emission components. Shops may be fine $10,000 for each illegal cat they install!

Rememmber dealers [shops] are totally independent of Nissan and just have a direct reimbursement contract with Nissan where they will be paid for any work that NISSAN deems is covered. If dealer refuses, up to you to persuade Nissan to pay for work, but Nissan cannot make a dealership do any work they don't want to or feel would bring them afoul of law.

And yes. There was card that stated the HFC where for Off Road Use. So Q45tech has a point as well

$498.00. But I had bought a set from him cheaper when they first came out and returned them. He would not give me the original price because, these are the 2009 upgraded HFC's. Larger diameter tubing, thicker support bracket, pre-cat O2 bung for wideband tubing. Lots of new features:)
