Well, it is, but honestly, the factory pan has baffles, the factory pan with spacer has more depth to width than the APS pan. I don't like that the APS pan is sooo wide, it leaves more room for the oil to slosh, I'd rather it be deeper like with just a spacer.

Oh, fail then. Still I'll just run a spacer, its an extra inch of oil, I'm not racing, not putting a dry sump in, so I don't need more than that provides.

^ that's the spirit ! just like Sharif said, if you race, the engine will not last as long anyway no matter what you do.
all little things help, but i guess it's not enough..... so if it's 3 k for all the " feel good things " why not just save the $ for the rebuild ?

Well, I just don't want a stupid failure.
I've noticed a lot of things, and have been trying to keep my revs below 6500 except for short stints. My transmission bolts have been backing out if I don't locktite them, I've found them loose a couple times, torqued them in, had them come free, so now we'll see how loctite holds (putting that in tomorrow).
There is a lot of vibration at the upper rev range, normal V6 stuff, but I'm completely afraid that there is more danger than we realize. Hearing that a valve hung open in cyl. #5 on an NA car scares me. I'm just going to run 6 quarts with a spacer, maybe 7 with an oil cooler, and keep the revs down where possible.

Its the uppers, the worst is the drivers side upper. There are 4 across that you can reach from the top, I have my engine cover off, its a lot easier without it to feel them. The middle two don't seem to be as bad, but my upper left is completely missing right now LOL.

I'm cheap with that stuff, I have $1200 total in my suspension and its awesome...my audio system was cheap and effective. Research + good deals is always a win.

And Tac-M What kind of motul are you running in your Z?

i go with 300v 5w30 or 10w40 - HR likes the 5w30 better, but for hot track days i'll run the 10w40 stuff...
gear box is75w90 and the carbonetics diff likes 75w140 every 2-3k miles <- and that is like a little to much $$$.... but that's what a very nice clutch based LSD wants... also, for the ones who know, with thicker oil and nismo diff cover - no more stinky diff !
brake fluid is motul 600 as well.

I tried taking a picture, but I can't get my camera in there from the top, and my car won't be on a lift for at least a week.
Snapshot from service manual. Bolt A, 4th from the left is loose in my car, and 6th from the left is missing. 55 lb.ft. isn't much torque for the size of bolt it is, but aluminum engine block means I don't want to torque it any more.
I think its just because I've had my transmission out like 4-5 times.

Just found a used XYZ y-pipe with a resonator. It will replace my Tanabe Y, and hopefully quiet down that TP rasp. Tony also wants me to do a before and after dyno, so soon we will see how much this thing makes on a dynojet and if it makes more power thanks to the new "special" y-pipe. If it does pickup a few whp - Tony gets a case of beer !
