my 08 HR
Nothing exciting, just wanted to post up my current setup.
The car was recently featured in import tuner's power pages aug. issue. http://www.importtuner.com/powerpages/impp_1108_2008_nissan_350z_power_pages/viewall.html Basically the car was dropped off at Design Motorsports Engineering, here in Los Angeles, who does the main design and test fabrication/fitting for new DC Sports products. I was given 3 products to test fit on the car and see what kind of gains they produced for the magazine. So I got the short ram intake, berk HFCs, and cat-back exhaust. Car was dyno'ed at SP Engineering dynojet . Base run got 251HP and 220 TQ. Post install got peak 272HP and 240TQ. here's the dyno results: intake: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...nevsintake.jpg hfcs: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...evsexhaust.jpg exhaust: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...vshiflocat.jpg base vs final: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...inevsfinal.jpg compare: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...8350zFinal.jpg I got these parts for free, so 20 HP and TQ gains for free is all good in my book. So now I'm just waiting to set aside a date to tune the car and see what the power the engine produces. edit: pics are hosted on photobucket, yes it sucks... |
nice gains and free stuff but gdamn dude clean your engine bay
|
car came out of the bodyshop right before i dropped off the car to DME and they had the car for 2 weeks. left the hood open the whole time =)
|
Nice!

I like the dyno. Horsepower is almost perfectly linear. Peak torque cost you torque below 3,000 RPM. Thats a common trade off.

seems a lil low

I want free stuff...

Ha! I made a comment about this article that was printed in the November issue ( pg. 14, for some reason they titled it 310 AWHP??? ). I was just saying how your numbers were right in line with my baseline and post bolt-on run, and then how the addition of Tomei headers, test pipes, and cams got me over 300 whp.

I think it's funny how everyone on here says you get no gains from intakes, yet this proves otherwise. :dunno:

I think that is aimed at us DE guys. HR/VHR is a different ball game intake wise.

can't wait to see how the tune works out for you!

Well another thing to take into account is heat soak which is why a lot of people say don't bother with the intakes. The intakes were used on the second pull so might not be at full heat. Just some food for thought.

Sorry for the lack of updates. Been really busy getting ready for my brother's wedding coming up in the next month, so really haven't had the time to drop the car off to get tuned. Most likely will be in the beginning of June before I have any free time.
on the topic of heat soak, i've had the engine bog a few times (twice in the past 4 months really) when i tried opening up the throttle around 3k-5k RPM. But this was after the car had been sitting in the high heat all day. I switched back to stock intakes for a while but the car felt it lost its pickup in the mid rpms. I even contemplated going to CAIs but wouldn't be cost effective for me inconsideration of $/hp over what i'm getting with these free intakes. But we'll see after i get a tune see how the car responds then. |
Get the car tuned up in the end? Numbers?
