370Z Technical Information - Releases November 11th
According to Edmunds:
October 29th pics will be released (confirmed and completed)
November 11th technical information will be released (pending)
I guess we will have to put up with the endless wave of newb speculative posts until that time..

Im looking forward to both the spec and the price. For me the price is the make it or break it point. I assume 350Z will start selling for cheap once the 370Z come out so if the 370 is way more than any of imagined I might think a 350Z is in order or a the new camaro. However if I did get a 350Z it would suck would I sell it, the money won't be there. This is all pure specualtion by the way.

As a previous camaro owner, I wouldn't go back to camaro because Z has spoiled me with it's handling capability. I think , once you drive a good handling lightweight car, you really can't go back to bigger, heavy car even though they have more HP.

NO. You shouldn't compare Camaro to the 370Z. Whole different car, different catagory. To some people, it's all about the HP numbers and straight line performance. But for some, it's strictly smaller chassis , lightweight car with great handling ability. HP isn't the top priority on their list.
As a previous camaro owner, I wouldn't go back to camaro because Z has spoiled me with it's handling capability. I think , once you drive a good handling lightweight car, you really can't go back to bigger, heavy car even though they have more HP.

ok i see your point as far as HP is concerned agreed...but honestly i thnk the stock Z handles like ***, body roll like a mother.. I always hear people say Z handles great but i guess they obviously dont really know how to drive this car to test it. I have and im not impressed

So, back on topic , I think anything from 331 - 338 HP will be perfect for a lighter weight, shorter chassis and better handling 370Z

Different people has different needs with their car. There are plenty of Z drivers who never even revved their to the red line or made a turn faster than 30 MPH. Then you got Z owners who autox every da*n weekend!!! I should also mention that, with the limited speed limit and public safety, you really can't drive your car too fast on street. So, for street driving (IMO) Z is perfectly balanced. But if you have a need for speed, and you go to track all the time, then you need to upgrade the Z suspension.

I think they shortened the Z too much and made it too small. So I'm looking at the Lotus Elise.

Not going to be very similar. The SS Camaro / V-8 is coming in around $40 + for the first year, and it's being called a limited edition. Bang for the buck, the 370Z is still a great buy.

Yeah the first year the Camaro will be pricey but after that you should be able to get one at the MSRP of 34k that was already announced. Also don't be so sure that these two cars won't be competing around the track. Chevy has proven that it's not just about high hp, straight line performance with the new Cobalt SS. I mean they managed to take a high hp turbo FWD car and make it handle better than new 09 WRX which also got an upgraded suspension. Wouldn't surprise me if they gave the new Camaro got a similar treatment, especially with the first time IRS available for it. Honestly I see the Z being a better handling car but to say these two cars won't be crossed shopped by 90% of buyers is nieve. Lets hope Nissan delivers a good performing car rather than just an average competitor.

Anyway so the Camaro SS will pack 430hp with the LS3 borrowed from the C6 Corvette and will be weighing in at 3800 pounds, a pig indeed with that big engine. Now the 2008 Corvette, at 3230 pounds, runs the 1/4 mile stock at around 12.3 to 12.5 and is quite the sports car at a bargain price. The SS, on the other hand, will be a high 12/low 13 car at best because that extra 500 pounds will slow it down significantly.
If the 370Z is under 3200 pounds and packing 338hp, it will actually be as fast if not faster than the Camaro SS depending on skill. Horsepower is not everything children, as it is mostly for bragging rights. Handling wise, I do not see how a longer and heavier car can take the track better than a shorter and lighter car.
Chevy's Cobalt SS does have pretty good handling and even better than cars it competes with because it is light at under 3,000 pounds, therefore making it very tossable and quite fast with its turbo'ed engine.
I think the GT-R is the only car available that is still an excellent track car despite its hefty weight so that's why Porsche and Chevy were shittin' bricks...

The Z better have around 350hp for me to pick it up, but it wont. So I will get my self a slightly used C6 with a LS3 that dyno's nearly 400whp and 400tq. What a shame I am going over to a car that is...oh wait it is even lighter hell yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
