Originally posted by grifferjr havent seen any of this either. i think it would not only work but would also look pretty tight if done right. i had never thought of this until someone else brought this up here about a month or so ago. but if i am not mistaken, that guy also hit a dead end. i think this might be an unpioneered area. you could be the first if you go through with it. or at least the first on this forum. |
I saw 19 F and 20 R..not 18 F 19 R
bump...i wanna see too^^ |
It can be done. You just have to get the correct sizing and offsets. I am planning to do this with my MR-2 whenever the fender flares are done.

IMO it looks goofy. Almost like wearing a nice pair of shoes to go out stylin...but one is brown and the other is black...ya know? Something is amiss about it.

The Z's design is very balanced (front/back). The wheel combo mentioned would throw it off completely unless something was drastically changed in the rear (widebody rear fenders + aggressive wing for example)

No...they are designed to be that way...if you do this to the Z and have any intention of keeping close to the stock diameter, your sidewalls are going to be different and off balance. It's not the wheels that look goofy, but the variance in the sidewall heights! My opinion and I'm sticking to it!

I did alot of research on the this, and if done right, the sidewall heights would be the same with 18" front and 19" rear, not different as they are stock. What held me back was that the tires choices for 19" are limited.
sentry65, I saw your other post on the Nismo 18" 10.5 +15 question. I also considered this, but couldn't find any answers. Looks like a few might be running this size now. So what are your goals for running the widest rear tire? If for style, then it's in the eye of the beholder. If for the strip or track, I'd suggest looking at availibility of tire sizes. More choices in 18" for street and track. |
