Opinions of 18's in the front and 19's in the rear
 

IM thinking about getting Hp Lightning evo rims 19x9.5 in the rear and 18x8.5 in the front.

two questions do you guys think this is a good idea or should i go all 19's

if you think it is a good idea what tire size would i need i was just gonna follow the c6 tire sizing because i dont know sh!t about tires
P245/40ZR18 front tires
P285/35ZR19 rear tires

once again i ahve no idea what im doing thanks

i think it is a dumb idea just keep them all the same side size i think it will look really stupid. you don't have a corvette man com'on

Thanks for the compliment im 90% positive im going to do this soon but im trying to find out the exact tire size i should have because i dont want to be buying 200 dollar tires then they dont fit right... please help!

I don't think it's a dumb idea at all. Ever since I got my 19's, I wish I had gone with the 18's up front. If you look at the wheel dia stagger, 18's up front will give you a similar amount of sidewall depth as 19's in the back.

Plus, I don't like having only 2.5" of sidewall up in front. 3" to 3.5" would have been nice. Plus, your 13" or 14" rotors would fill in the front wheel a lot better. If I ever end up bending my front rims, I'm reordering them in 18" dia instead of 19" dia.

So after reading that post lowrider sent he came up with

245/40/18 in front

275/35/19 in back

would this be the correct tire size for 18x8.5 and 19x9.5 and still stay within that .5 to .75 of rake that nissan wants for our cars

I have those HPs in the pic although mine are 19x8.5 and 19x9.5. I prefer 19s all around but I am happy to pass on that I like these wheels quite a bit. I got the dark silver and they are great value for the money.

Here ya' go - these are the best I have. Again, these are the dark silver which is a little different than the regular silver. Basically, there is a lot of dark contrast on the sides of the mesh spokes.

i was pondering this idea myself and a forum member strife350z was very helpful in explaining the benefits....the following is quoted from him in a pm he sent me some time ago

"What I'm getting at is, if you run 18s in the front and 19s in the back you'll get the following benefits:

1. Equal sidewall height front and rear. A 245/40/18 is the correct tire size for an 18 inch front rim. A 275/35/19 is the correct tire size for a 19 inch front rim. These tires have identical sidewall heights, meaning you get more protection for your rims, while maintaining the stock stagger (i.e. your fronts will still be 1" shorter in diameter than the back as per nissan OEM specs)

2. Balanced "look" front and rear. Lets take for example my 19s. I have 19x8.5 in the front, and 19x9.5 in the back. This is the most common setup for our cars. As you know, the 19x9.5 has more lip in then the front rim, by virtue of the rim diameter. While lip looks HOT, it makes a rim appear SMALLER than it actually is. Take a look at the wheels gallery and you will know what I mean. Check out how an 18" rear rim with a fat lip looks. You'll be surprised to find that the rear rim actually appears SMALLEr than the front. That's because of the lip. When you run 19s in the back and 18s in the front, you negate this optical illusion. Making your rims appear more balanced (from most angles).

3. Lighter weight, cheaper front rims/tires. Your 18s in the front will be lighter and cheaper than the 19s in the back.

For all these reasons above, it is my opinoin that running 18s and 19s front and rear respectively gets you the best of both worlds. Looks, lip, performance and a big enough tire sidewall to protect your expensive new rims. As I mentioned in the thread, I am currently running 19x8.5 in the front with a 245/35/19 tire, and it is just too little sidewall... resulting in a noisier, bumpier ride and leaving me more prone to pothole damage to my rims since there is less rubber cushioning it."

Lanceg33 nice 350 i like the wheels alot and thanks for all the replies i think im going to do this setup in the next couple of mounts after the holiday season and all those credit card bills clear. When i do ill be sure to post some pics.

definately a good idea. i just wish someone would try it already. this idea has been knocked around for a few months now and i think it has probabaly gotten at least a 90% approval in opinions. of course i am not that anal and havent kept track.

i have already done my aftermarket and have all 19's. i am in the same opinion as before. should i do something to the fronts, i am replacing them with 18's.
