Tell Me Why I should Get 19's

I'm Looking into some new wheels. Some people say I would be sorry if I didn't get 19's. It seems as thought the selection drops for 19's.

I'm wanting 255/40 F and 275/40 R

Tell me what is better about 19's

doodeitstom Mar 17, 2005 12:51 PM

Here ill tell you why you should get 19's. They look better.

Eddie1979 Mar 17, 2005 12:55 PM

18's look fine to me, depending on what you get... not to mention they cost half the price and perform just as good if not BETTER.

ZIABLO Mar 17, 2005 12:56 PM

so you can join the bling dynasty

i'll stick with my 18s

eMpTei Mar 17, 2005 01:06 PM

255/35 and 275/35 is a better, I think you might need to roll your fenders if you get 40's

Kardan- What kind of driving are you doing with the car? What kind of ride do you want?

510dat Mar 17, 2005 02:04 PM

19" tires cost ~2X 18's, which cost ~2X 17's. How about some 20's?

Zivman Mar 17, 2005 02:08 PM

I prefer the look of fat 18's. 19's are just too much wheel.

I agree. Tire cost was the main reason that I stuck with aftermarket 18s at the time. I have not looked lately but, I can't image they have come down.

18: Stock looking
19: Show car looking (good for daily drive also)
20: Show car looking (heavier, not typical for daily drive. Will be a bumpy ride.)

JimRHIT Mar 17, 2005 03:08 PM

they look better if you plan on lowering the car ... if not ... there is no reason other than to just fit in

ssc Mar 17, 2005 03:24 PM

you'll always want more later

depends on the wheel also. Some wheels looks too small in 18's.
I was set on going with 18's mainly because they perform a little better but after looking into it I decided to go with 19's. They just look better and the compromise isn't much as far as performance/ride. If your gonna spend the money for aftermarket wheels for the looks then don't compromise on the looks. Otherwise just keep the stock wheels.

GaryM05 Mar 17, 2005 07:18 PM

You shouldn't (unless money is no object and you're much more into looks than performance.) They're heavier and tires cost much more for them.

(Not that there's anything wrong with having tons of cash and being more concerned with appearance ;))

my .02

in pictures 19's look oh so good. but in person all the 19's i have seen look to big.

if ithis is a regular driving car. (daily car) stick to 18's you can get some really nice 18's with a semi lip and a small drop that WILL make z look awsome.

I'm trying decide this also....think I'm going with 18's.

Everytime I go "to big" with my other cars I bend a wheel. And I want a more comfortable ride also. I may order black CCW wheels, great looking wheels. www.ccwheel.com

reason's to get 19's:
- some people like how they look

reason's to NOT get 19's
- heavier
- not as much rubber to grab the ground with
- cost more
- tires cost more
- more risk of bending the wheels
- bumpier ride
- spokes look too long and wheel looks too big IMO
