20" Rims--How's the ride???
 

From people with experience how is the ride quality with 20's. I know that 19's and 18's are better, but is it doable?

Can you still have a semi-performance verhicle?

I have 20's withe an Eibach drop. The ride is not too noticeably different than the stock 18's. Just my opinion, however.

Depending on the wheel you might have to roll the fenders so they dont rub, and maybe a tad slower but many have 20s on their Z's

To be honest....the ride is basically the same as stock......I have a 19\20 combo and the only difference I noticed is that you feel the road more. The ride isn't any more rough!

If you have ridden on 19's its basically the same. Depending on the wheels you get, heavier or lighter, the acceleration might suffer slightly more than having the smaller sizing. For me personally, the ride difference was mostly due to the tires, new tires vs tires will low tread, tread wear. The more tread on the wheels the less rough the ride will be.

have had 2 sets of 20's and the ride isn't much worse...it is a little rougher, but that is about it. As stated above, depending on the weight, you may or may not notice the performace suffering.

Both sets of 20's for me are lighter than the stock setup, so the acceleration hasn't hardlly suffered. Not sure if there are heavy enough 20's out there though that would take the Z to a "non-performance" car.

I luv my 20's. The ride is nice and dont forget about the looks. I have michelin kdw's. They are very good tires and I highly recommend them to anyone getting 20's.

I would think also it would ware the brakes a little more also since the wheel weighs more. mine ride just fine.

I haven't noticed the brakes wearing any worse, but then again my wheels with the tires either have weighted less than stock, or the same.

I too have the KDW's and love them. I have the old design though...didn't like the new design.

I have iForged Evos 20x9(F)+20x10(R) w/ BFG KDW2 @ 255/35(F) + 285/30(R). IMO... I think the ride quality is actually better than my stock 18" & feels extremely well planted on the ground. I've been running on these for well over 3 months now with a few long trips & experienced no rubbing or TCS/VDC issues. In addition to this setup, I'm running the Koni Yellow Sport Shocks & the Hotchkis TVS Stage1 Kit (Sports Springs + Adjustable Sways). I think the fitment/drop is perfect!

I had my fenders rolled in the rears and they still rub on every driveway I climb..... But then again, my rears are dropped to the max on a 20x10.5"

i have 20's on my car with a 1.5" dropp and the ride is fine just a tad different than stock

I was also wondering how many miles 20" tires last for, do they wear that much faster than stock?

Tire wear really depends on driving style (i.e. spirited, track, long distance, work commuter, etc...), road conditions, & type of tire you have (i.e. build, material, soft, medium, hard, etc...).

Yeah I guess you have to take all that into account. I am looking into some 20"s with 8k miles already on them, so I was just wondering how much longer they will last before they need to be replaced.

I'm not looking forward to replacing all four tires anytime soon.

I've had 20-inch Axis Mod 7's with Nitto 245/35 & 275/35 on my car since last July and don't have any complaints about the ride whatsoever. I've read posts that these wheels weigh approximately the same as the stock 18-inch rims. I have a pretty short commute, so they're probably still showing 80% tread after 5,000 miles. I think if I were buying tires today, I'd try to find the BFG T/A KDW2's. I've read a lot of great reviews and I think the treadwear rating is 300.

what wheels are those?? they look just like the Volk GT-C but they arent...
