Ran Dunlop SP Sport 9000's, wanna try something new, need suggestions...

Dunlops were a bit noisy, but overall a good ride. I wanna try something new for my 2nd set of tires. Something alittle more quite on the road. Any suggestions?

I would say the KDW 2's for performance, but they are pretty loud. I have the sp9000's, I would say try the TOYO's out. I think they have a T1-r out now. Did ya get the wheels yet ;) ?

check the tire rack comparisons page.

I had the SP9000s on my prior car- you're right, they were good but noisy. On my Z I have the Bridgestone SO3s. By far, best tire I've had on any car. Very sticky and reasonable road noise. Much quieter than the OEM tires.

Any pics of the wheels?

Am I the only one that doesn't listen for tire noise? I have the Dunlop SP-9000s, but I have never complained of tire noise on any of my cars nor any cars I have ridden in. Anyways, I will be going with the BFG g-Force KDW2s next time around.

I've got Michelin Pilots on my Z and I think they're great. A little pricey but well worth it ( my opinion ).

Ok, this is it. I'm down to these 2. Your input please.

Bridgestone Potenza RE050A or Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Postion.

I have the KDW2s and I have to say they are very nice... reasonable road noise - very good dry traction, GREAT wet traction... and they look pretty cool, too ;)

so, where are the pics you said you were going to post?

Blue Batmobile May 3, 2005 11:09 AM

Don't overlook tire weight!!!!

Another thing to consider is tire weight. After spending $$$$ on low weight aftermarket wheels, don't negate this important aspect. I have the S-03 pole position 275/40/18 in the rear and they grip incredibly but weight in at 34lbs each. That's heavy and negates almost all the weight loss of my Nismo wheels from the stock set-up. Tire weight can affect you're ride and responsiveness dramatically since it is unsprung rotational weight at the outer edge of your wheel. The lightest maximum performance tire available is the Michelin Pilot Sport. Weighs 28lbs for the 275/40/18. They are not quite as grippy as the pole positions, but you would only notice this at the extreme limits of handling, if ever.

I went with the KDW2's for my new rims also. What sizes did you get?

Blue Batmobile May 6, 2005 04:28 AM

245/35/19 and 275/35/19. You?
