I just purchased my GT-AV's..TPS??

Hey guys..i just purchased my first set of wheels for my Z and I am psyched..I bought a set of Volk GT-AV mercury silver and can not wait for them to go on my car..8.5 F +23 and 9.5 R +24.

Quick question. Will the TPS work on these wheels or do I need to buy the new valve stems? Thanks..

Bubble Jun 7, 2005 11:05 PM

you will need to install the TPS to your new wheel.

I guess the reason i asked is that i have read on several threads that depending on what valve stem is used on certain wheels, the TPS might not work. So just to be certain and clear, this wheel has no mounting issues with the GT-AV correct? thanks for your help..Still pondering the Initial D set up..just not sure i can pull it off in CS like yours pulls it off in DB.

CS look really good too. Check out GoingDeep. He has the same kit.

I tried searching his name and couldnt find anything..you did mention though when you painted yours, you advised me to have them put something extra or an additive in the paint..do you remember what that was?

make sure they use PPG paint. Dupont clear coat. If they don't use PPG, it will not match 100%.

on my gtn wheels, the stems are long and bent. if you have stems unlike your stocks, you will need to gerryrig the tps with hose clamps like many others have done.

so will any wheel shop know this or will it need to be a specialty shop ?? i apoligize for my ignorance on this issue..lol

Z BOY Jun 8, 2005 08:13 AM

well, the shop that installd my wheels didn't know about the fix, but now they do cuz i did it and showed them how. detailed diy can be found on this site. do search for tps, titles-only option.
ps: 2003z may have some extra hose clamps to sell.

ncparamedic -- Glad to see that you ordered the wheels. You will not be disappointed.

Well i got such a great deal on them and I have been debating on them for a month or so, i just said "what the hell" its only money..lol..the only thing is that I wanted 10.5's in the rear, but I was told the 8.5/9.5 combination will allow me more sidewall coverage on my tires ?? (not sure what that means) and protection for my wheels in turns?? But im stoked and cannot wait. Hoping this mercury silver wheel goes good with the CS.

putting 275s on a 10.5 wheel will stretch them too wide, leaving less sidewall available for support. goodonya for not going so wide.

Well I havent bought tires yet..still debating on those..I love the look of the Toyo's and Fuzion but im aiming more for a high performance all seasonal..maybe the michelin. Do you think the 245/275 will give me plenty of protection w/o the stretch??

Z BOY Jun 8, 2005 07:34 PM

each company's tires have different tolerances. go to the manufacturers website for specs. you will find the wheel width ranges for each tire size.

ncparamdic - I just posted pics of my setup for another member in another thread. Believe me you will not get tired of the look. Looking forward to your pics.
