Looking for light cheap 18x9.5's and 8x5's

What are the cheapest/best light weight rims for the Z that are 18x9.5 and 18x8.5 respectively? Im thinking the nismos or rays, are there any that remain quality while being light? Dont really care about looks as much as performance and want to stay around 18-20lbs per rim or less if i can. Thanks for the help

Rays makes a forged Magnesium wheel. TE37Mag, you will not get lighter than that. Hold on to your check book though. And they WILL be special order. Can't find a weight, although knowing Mag wheels, I'd venture a guess in the 15-16 Lb range.
Hope that helps

No, you'll have to let the checkbook go for a set of those. :icon11:

Light and cheap is like oil and water.

Reliable, light, cheap. You get to choose 2, not all 3.

You say cheap, then you say Rays and Nismo.

Here is what I found, I just don't have a lot of information on them

Kosei K1 TS in a 17 x 8 and 17 x 9 for around $260 at about 16lbs. but they did not seem to offer an 18.

Gram Lights 57C in the 18" size are $330 but 20.5 and 22lbs.

Your best bet for an affordable, sub 20lb 18 would be Enkei's RPF1.

The Nismo's are 18lbs and $1800 here: http://www.nissanparts4less.com/en_US/

A set of oz forged rims is 3200 a set of nismo forged rims on ebay is 1,750 buy it now. I can buy them retail for 1900 so yes that is cheap IN COMPARIOSN to others. So by cheap i mean around or a little under 2k, sorry guess i should have stated that to begin with.

dang those are cheap good wheels. Any chance of them bending or breaking? Texas roads are good but you never know about that occasional pothole.

ppw350Zunit Jul 22, 2005 10:03 AM

any wheel will bend if you hit a pothole at a fast enough speed.

Yeah, the RPF1s were the cheapest that I found that I liked the look of and they're just as light as the Nismo/Volk rims. they should run about $1200 a set. click on my sig to see them.

Yeah those or the nismos are what i will get for sure. Just need to wait for the right moment to get some. Id like to get the nismos bc of style so if i can find them used or cheaper then thats what it will be. Also yeah i know the addage hit it hard enough and it will bend but you know what im asking. Many rims that are cheaper tend to be more prone to break. I know the nismos are good but ive never really considered enkei to be a reliable brand.

You should...they've been making wheels for quite some time and are used by quite a few race teams.
Most notably, they manufacture the McLaren F1 team's magnesium wheels.

I know these are biased, but Sport Compact Car also recently made a list of quality wheel manufacturers and Enkei was on it. 5zigen was as well btw.
