Can a approx. 3" long scrape on the outer edge of a 18" Touring rim be repaired?

I have a scrape on the outer edge of one of my rims which I believe is from a curb. My side skirt is scraped also so I have to get this fixed as well (my wife has a new car as a result of this).

Is it possible to fix this or would I have to get a new rim? I've never had a scraped rim before so I do not if rims can be fixed.

If they can be fixed, what type of shop does this kind of work?

Thanks.
Victor

Here is the web site for a company that repairs wheels as wheel as selling wheels as a swap. They can best tell you if your wheel is repairable and provide the cost.

I have NO affiliation with the company.

I had an alloy wheel refinished for less than $200, and was very happy with the results. I got knocked into a median, and about 1/4 was broken off almost all the way around the rim. Check with a local body shop and see who they recommend.

hey... I had an accident in my G35 Coupe (flame suit on, yes a non-350z owner scouring the boards) a couple weeks back as a man backed into my side and fender. The rim was scratched about 3-4 inches and it was fully replaced (not REPAIRED) as they said they couldn't match the exact color of the rim. So make sure you check into that before all else. Good luck with your repairs...

Check out this little tech article, you may be able to do a pretty good job of fixing it yourself:

Wow, thanks for that information. That scrape looks similar to mine. I am going to try this fix when the weather gets warmer.
Your help is greatly appreciated.
