Toyo T1R's how do they rank?

Anybody have any experience with these tires? Cant find any comparison guides like they have on tire rack for these tires?

supposedly a step up from the t1s and i loved teh t1s.

I put T1 Rs on my Zzz about three months ago & so far so good. Tires are quieter & give smoother ride than OEMs.

Since Tirerack does not sell Toyos they don't include the tires in their surveys.

In 11-2003, Consumer Reports had a comparison of high performance tires & the T1 Ss, for-runner of T1 Rs, were ranked second to Goodyear F1s. This helped influence me plus sooooooooooo many people on the Z sites spoke well of the Toyos.

The 'SEARCH' button is your friend. :)

If u were to scroll down on this same page, u would have seen 3 pages worth of opinions on this tire.

One addition to my earlier response. CR gave the T1 Ss the best wet weather grades (tied with Pilot Sport Is). This was important to me.

After seeing a gazillion reports of people crashing in the wet on the Z boards, I've become abit paronoid. Though I suspect most of those crashing have more adrenline than brains it became never-the-less a concern. The Toyos give some comfort.

Pics of the T1 Rs & Ss tread pattern look very similar so I suspect the T1 Rs will have the same wet grip as T1 Ss.

I did a quick burnout with my T1-R yesterday, and today it felt SO STICKY!!!!! I guess I have finally removed all that mold-release compound.

I have a set and it looks like they take some time to "break in" 200-500 miles, but then they grip like crazy! So over all it's nice, not very expensive tire.

my honest opinion...toyo's are my favorite brand tires...they dont cost an arm and yur first child but they perform very well.
i've had fz4's, t1s, and t1r's and they've all performed great.
great dry performance, great wet performance, and somethin that alot of low profile tires can't say...they're quiet.

I haven't run the T1-S, but I am running the T1R in the rear. I have to say that, imo, they're overrated. They're decent bang for the buck, but the wet traction is not that great. I've had better. Dry traction isn't bad, but then again so are most of the other ones for a similar price point and treadwear within the high-performance segment.
