Its official...I hate Toyo T1-S's
Let me start by saying I hated the Toyo T1-S tire from day 1. They were way too wobbly in turns and were noisy as hell. Today one of my rears went flat and so I threw on all my old stockers (17" with RE040 tires). I immediately noticed that my car no longer wobbled and had razor like handling all of a sudden and was MUCH quieter. Keep in mind these were the same tires I hated with a passion in the beginning but that mainly due to their wet weather performance. I no longer care for wet performance as I have the APS ST and am very careful when wet either way. (I go below speed limits in bad weather).
After throwing the stockers back on I somehow remarkably am able to get full traction through first and second gear now. When the Toyo's were on I was actually scared to floor my car. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up..I don't understand why the Toyo brand is so popular. Personally I will never use them again. I will only be sticking to Bridgestone and BFGoodrich from here on out. Their tires have much stiffer sidewalls and provide excellent dry traction. By the way I went from a 275 in the rear to the 235's and get much better traction somehow... |
yea, i hate em as well.

The Toyo RA-1's are a different story. Great tire from what I hear and a spec tire for many racing sanctions

Hmmmm…you prefer the OEM tires to Toyo T1-S. OK.
|
I loved the T1S tires. Too bad you had a bad experience with them.

The Toyo's aren't amazing tires like some of you seem to think...not to mention worship. Perhaps the T1-R is better but most people agree that even that "newer model" is pretty crappy. All it takes is a search to find out what others have to say.... The only good thing about the T1-S is that it has far superior handling in the rain, which is a plus for most of you but all I'm looking for is dry traction with my 400whp and torque..which it did not provide....perhaps on a NA setup it will be fine... :) |
Well if you think about it, the T1S rates a good grippy street tire and 275 is aggressive width! Now if you wanna get picky with grip, get 18x11's(30 offset for no fender modification) in the rear and go 315 :D

Ugh I was considering the Toyo T1s for my 18 x 8 and 18 x 9 wheels. 245 front/275 rear.
I really don't know what to get, 275/40 is somewhat limited. |
nothing to consider as T1S are not made anymore...
you say you "hate" them but provide no details - what wheels are you on? offsets? widths? alignment? tire pressure? I ran T1S's for 30k miles on my Z....and then switched to S03's. I rue the day I ever made that decision, as for a street car, the T1S was quieter, much more comfortable and offered 90% of the dry grip that the S03 does |
