Nitto NT 555 245 (F) & 275 (R) on stock 18's

I got a nail stuck in my stock tire and decided that it's a good time to replace all four tires. I went with:
NITTO NT 555 Extreme Performance Front: 245/40ZR-18 Rear: 275/40ZR-18 These tires fit quite nicely. :) Here are some pix that I took at the shop. |

JESUS H CHRIST. I knew it could be done. Everyone was telling me dont do it dont do it. Yet i kept hearing stories of people putting 275's on . Thats IT! Im buying those axis mod's and throwing a 275 on that bishums

Did you happen to find out if the stock 18's were the same width front and rear? In the owners manual it says the wheels are 18 x 8 all around, while in the sticky at the top of the page it says 18 x 7.5 in front and 18 x 8 in back. I've measured my 18's, and they seem to be the same size, but I'm not sure how accurate my measurements were.

I've been driving around in my new tires and they are very smooth. There feels like less vibration from the road due to additional rubber becoming an added cushion. No rubbing at all under hard driving and hard cornering. And they hug the road a lot better than the stock Bridgestones.... allowing me to take the curves at higher speed than before.
Apexi 350z: I didn't know that was even an issue. I guess I don't hang around on this board enough to know that... but visually, the fitment appears to be nicely fit. The rear bulges out a bit... but that's expected when 245 series tire is just flush with the rim, putting 275 series tire is going to bulge out. I bought the tires from America Tires and they were priced at: 275/40/18 $228 per tire (rear) 245/40/18 $150 per tire (front) Doh: I thought the rim sizes were 8 all around. I didn't really bother to compare the wheels when the tires were off (I should have!) so I can't vouch to this statement. The owner's manual is kinda not specific enough. But if you look in the Z catalogue, it is more specific. This is what is says: WHEELS AND TIRES 17"x7.5"(front)/8.0"(rear) 7-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels (350Z, Enth. Tour) 18"x8.0"(front)/8.0"(rear) 6-spoke aluminumalloyw wheels (Perf, Tour) 18"x8.0"(front)/8.5"(rear) Rays super lightweight 6-spoke forged-alloy wheels (Track) So, my Touring 6 Spd would be 8" all around. but as far as the fitment goes, there is no rubbing so far. So it should be alright. |
Wow! I didn't you could put 275s on! Anyone know if this is generally a bad idea? These are the tires I wanted to put on some VOlK wheels, but if I don't have to, I won't. How bad is the tire wall flex?

Im worried that on my 19s it will be WORSE since there is 1/2" less side wall :( |

Just curious......Do the Nitto's squeak or roar when spinning out?? Can you even spin a 275??? Im either ordering the Nitto's or the Dunlop SP Sport 9000. Anyone had experience with both these tires to make a comparison? Something about the nitto's low price makes me nervous..
