Gram Light Pro's

One of our members, Driven, has been asking about the Pro's forever, and I finally found a good closeup of the lip. They come in 18's, but no 19's right now. I thought everyone might want to see them.

THATS WHAT I LIKE TO SEE. MMMMM, BIG LIPS!

Thanks Jeremy,

I didn't know I held such a warm spot in your heart to warrant a special thread!:D Did you ever find a picture of the centercaps? Suppose I'm pushing it with that, huh? They look sweet...now I just need to make a decision!

OOO yeh very nice looking wheel. :D

Driven, i dont know what othe rim you are considering, but those Pros are phat.

Driven Jan 4, 2003 07:05 AM

Yup, considering all the qualities I like....these have nearly all of them. Not the lightest because of the cast centers, but not heavy either! Biggest problem is the offsets. To the best of my knowledge the 9" and 10" wheels I want only come in 22+ or 38+ offsets. I had originally been planning on running 285's and 255's, but would settle for the 275 and 245 combo many are running.

Tell me, haven't others run this combination successfully on other Volk wheels with the 22+ offset both front and rear? There has been so much controversy over proper offsets, but I'll give in to a little wear in order to have the look I want. I really want the sidewall (at least on the rear) to be "right there" next to the fender lip. If I supercharge in the future and want to run a 285 or 295 and have to roll the fender lip...I will. So the question remains: would you run the 22+ front and rear with the tire sizes I mention (275 and 245)?

A guy on another site is running +17 mm offsets with NO rubbing and problems, I saw someone on this site running Volk TE-37 in +22.

Driven Jan 4, 2003 02:01 PM

The guy running 17+....did he run a 275 tire? Or was it a smaller tire? I'm getting conflicting information on these wheels and am being told by some that if I'm going to special order from Japan that it can come in any offset, whereas others are saying only specific offsets are available. There must be some communication issues or something? Maybe Mackin only imports certain ones? See, the timing isn't an issue and I know I'll have to wait nearly 3 months for the wheels anyway, so if I can get specific offsets, it only makes sense. Lets suppose I can special order any offset I want...what offsets would you run with a 275 or 285 on rear (with the intent of clearing the fender lip by only a little) and a 245 or 255 up front (with the intent of not messing up scrub radius etc...but wanting to clear larger aftermarket brakes)? I'd be running a 9" up front and a 10" on rear. I was thinking of a 25mm+ on rear and a 28-30mm+ up front?? Any feedback?

Jeremy, are you able to confirm or deny the special order offsets?

valuetl Jan 5, 2003 01:19 PM

The Pro's do have select and optional offsets. The 57C and 57F do not.

Driven Jan 5, 2003 01:29 PM

Yup, valuetl is correct. I just got the info from Jeremy and I am going to contact his Mackin rep on Monday to get more specific info. Hopefully he understands what I am looking for and can give me some concrete feedback as to what will or will not work. I'm pretty sure I'm going to order the rear 10's at about a 25mm+ offset but am still a bit up in the air on the front 9's. My biggest concern is staying as close to stock setup for scrub radius and extended tire wear...but leaving enough room for future brake upgrades. I can't imagine moving the center point of the wheel out 8mm would dramatically hurt anything and should be a safe bet since others are running the same 22+ offset up front and clearing big brakes systems. Any feedback from anyone now that I know I can order nearly any offset I want is appreciated.

here is a link to the wheels I saw run with a +17mm (I don't think it mentions the offset, BUT I called Dazzmotorsports (the distributor or RH wheels) and they said they are 17mm)

http://www.club350.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=205

I PM'd the owner of the car, and he says he has NO problem rubbing and he is even planning on lowering the car as well.

Driven Jan 5, 2003 02:23 PM

I PM'ed him to see what size tires he is running. It looks like a really wide stance, so I'd believe the 17+, but that sounds too aggressive. Did Dazzmotorsports say what the offset up front was? Or are you saying it was 17+ both front and rear? What is everyone's input on what offset they would order in 18's if they had full spectrum options?

it is 17mm front and rear with a 8.5 front and 9.5 rear. I think he is running 245 f, 275 rear, but can't remember for sure.
