Who's got Avon Tech M550 A/S?

I'm looking for an inexpensive tire replacement for the OEM 18's. 225/45 and 245/45. The reviews seem pretty decent and the specs aren't too bad for the $$. I want something that has good wet performance but not a total slob when it's dry. Any other recommendations in this category besides this tire?

I've been running the Sumitomo HTR+ and I think it is a terrific tire in wet and not too bad in the dry either. This coming from a guy who used to run R-compound on the street. ;-) I think they only come in 40's in our size though.

Im gonna do some review searches on those right now:)

how much are they??

I am currently using this as my winter tire. They are very quiet (my G35 kinda feels like a caddy) and they have excellent wet traction. As for dry handling they are decent for an a/s tire (I was using a set of Pilot sports and they do not even compare). For the $$$ they are an excellent buy.

very quiet and a pretty nice ride, major major major improvement over OEM crap. Can't beat the price and performs much better than the price would lead you to believe. This coming from a guy that hates all things french, too.

Cheap. I think they were about $85 per tire. You are not going to win a lot of autocross with this tire, but I drove 2 hours in 35 degree weather in the pouring rain on the Interstate and was still driving 75 mph without any fear of hydroplaneing. Can't say that with the Slowtenzas.

The largest size for the HTR+ is only 245/40/18 though...

Yeah, not a large selection of plus sizes. But the 245/40, 225/40 fit the OEM wheels quite well and you do get a little lower sidewall.

Umm...Avon is a British company. They used to make all they tires (tyres?) for Rolls-Royce.

I'm thinking of upgrading to these tires as well, does anyone know a good place to find them cheap? At tirerack.com, they run $136 for each front and $146 for each rear.

I have some cheapo Wanli tires on my front wheels, and they're holding up great. They are cheap and I've used them for about 5,000 miles already. I'm sure they don't handle the greatest, but I felt safe on them.

I didn't want to put expensive tires on the front since my car is feathering.
Suprisely the Wanli's have only feathered a small amount...

At this rate they'll last atleast 15,000 - 20,000 miles.

I had the summer version, which I believe is called the M500. I loved it. Always felt safe in FL storms, and good dry traction also.
