275s or 285s with 18x10?
Ordered the Wedsport SA70s, 18x9, 18x10r, Gonna go 245/40 front, and I'm thinking about 285/40 in the rear......think there'll be any issues with that?

i'll chime in with a different opinion.
295 is alot of tire for a normally aspirated z, which i assume you are, if not then ignore this.
both westpak and barthelb are pushing 400+ hp and a 295 may be justified. a 295 on a NA Z may "look cool" but functionally is going to introduce more weight and drag and make your Z slower.
also,
if you are going to keep 245 front as you posted, a 245/295 combo is a massive stagger will adversely affect handling by introducing more understeer than the already understeer promoting 225/245 stock. unless you will be purely a drag racer going straight, i wouldn't recommend that combo.
lastly,
to answer your question about rubbing we need to know the offset of your wheels. westpak doesnt rub with 9.5/295/+20 but if you read his signature he is also dropped with eibach (at least a 1" drop). he doesnt list any alignment hardware so you have to keep in mind that they may not rub because the added negative camber from his drop has pulled the top of his tires in. people on this board are rubbing with 10.5/285/+22
hope that helps, and good luck

so stick with a 245/285 stagger like I was thinking? And these aren't super heavy wheels, the combo should actually even out to about the same as my stock 17s with tires.

how do you drive your car? street only? autox/track? drag?
what do you plan on doing with your car modification wise? examples: are you going to push 400+ HP? are you going to lower? etc.
again, my opinion only, and for the purposes that i use my car for, i think a 245/285 combo is still too much stagger.
what are the offsets of your wheels? and specifically what tires are you going to use? some 285's are wider than others.

for now, bolt ons only. maybe cams too.
18x9 fr +32mm offset. Got 'em from tirerack...they're the Wedsport SA70s. 18x10 rear.
I was going to go with Falken 451s, 245/40 fr and 285/35 rear. Mostly street, it's stock suspension....but I'm thinking of picking up the Nismo suspension in the future and working on camber and that sort of thing.

for your purposes i see 245/285 as too much width stagger adversely affecting handling. opinions may vary.
for purely handling purposes, if you don't have TCS/VDC, run a non staggered setup. for example, 265 and 265, although that's alot of tire up front, so 255/265 or 255/255 are options as well. looks wise, 265 on a 10inch rim may look stretched
if you must run stagger, my suggestion would be 255/40/18 and 275/40/18. less width stagger reducing understeer, keeps factory rolling circumference to keep VDC/TCS happy
in my opinion 285 is too much or at the upper limit for normally aspirated z's. sure your weight is close to same as stock but the resistance of that contact patch will make your z slower. looks wise, that's up to you
originally you posted 285/40/18, however, in the last post you listed 285/35/18. the former choice would be closer to stock diameter. also better rim protection, less harsh ride, and will keep TCS/VDC happy if you are so equipped and you run 245/40 or 255/40 front
your offset in the front is a bit tucked in looks wise. you will have no rubbing issues with a 245 or 255 tire in the front. you didn't list your rear offset so i can't help you there.
hope that helps

so would you think a 255 or 265 front with the 285 rear would be too much? Since you said it'd be tucked, I would think a 255/40 or 265/40 would be a better match for less stagger. Maybe 275s for the rears but I think 275/35s might be a little stretched on the rim itself.
I'm pretty sure offset is the same for both, as Tirerack doesn't list a separate offset for the rears.

now that I think about it, I'd think 265/35 front would be best.......matching with 285/35 rear. That wouldn't be toooo much stagger and wouldn't add much understeer on stock suspension.
I'm sure swaybars would take care of most of that too

Im thinking 255/285 would be good. In stock form or minor boltons, I think those tires hold that power well. I remember chirping 2nd and sometimes 3rd at the strip with the 245/275 combo. 265 seems a lil big and might not fit but i don't know from experience.

again, 265/285 is alot of tire for a NA Z. i think 265/40/18 will fit in the front with your offset but make sure you measure and/or ask others who have done it to be sure. approx 300hp can push that size but it may be a degradation in performance, again weight and the large contact patch slowing you down. also, turn-in will be affected by such a large front
if you're bent on keeping a 285 rear, listen to bartheleb (255 and 285)
bartheleb, were you chirping with your turbo or NA?
or go 255 and 275 as i suggested

255 / 285 will work good..
but the size options arent as good... you dont want to go 255/40 / 285/40 18... these tires are too tall, dont wanna go taller then stock...
i run 265/35 / 295/35 18... this set up is shorter then stock, no vdc issues if anyone is worried... lots of tire options in this size...
One of the things people do on the Z is push the wheels out all the way out of the wheel well into the fender... there is a ton of room on the inside of the fender wells on the rear... you can get a 12 in there no problem

I dont feel like 255/285/35 is too much tire for my NA Z I launch way better on the 19's than any tires Ive had on the stock track rims, and the handling is amazing. The car feels soooo much better planted, and I dont have a problem of spinning through 1st and part of 2nd from a 1st gear roll. The Z should have come with sizes like this from the factory. Chimmike check out the pics link in my sig to see if you like the 255/285 combo I highly recommend it.

thanks for real world experience. i was hoping you would chime in as you own 255/285
but i have to ask: do you not think your z is slower with that much tire? more planted, yes i agree, but faster? i will stand corrected by you as you have very fast NA 1/4mile times. sorry i haven't been following the drag forum, did you achieve those times with 255/285 or with a smaller size?
that being said as well, you are pushing the limits of traction with agressive launches at the drag strip. chimmike states he is only a street driver. i don't think he'll light up a set of 275's
again, i qualified all my comments as my opinion . others may vary

Since we are on the subject(sorry chimmike for hijacking)
I plan on running YOKOHAMA ADVAN RGII 18X9 et 22.+18X10 et25 Gold. I was thinking of running 265/35/18 fit for the front and 285/30/18. Would this be Ideal? Street, Autocross, road course. Staying N/A
Thanks Tire Gods

that can work, but the rear tire is going to be slightly shorter then the front... if you disable vdc and are not concerned about that it will be nice for auto x with the change in your final drive for acceleration...
