offset question for 17x9 and 17x10

I want to run 255/40/17 Front and 275/40/17 rear using Azenis RT615.

I'm thinking about getting the 5Zigen Fn01R-C. I was thinking of these offsets, let me know if there's a better alternative.

17x9+35 Front
17x10+25 Rear

Here is all the possible combination:
17x9 +15 5-114.3
+20* 4-114.3 S13, S14 HB, TI
+35 5-114.3
+43 5-114.3

17x10 +12 5-114.3
+25 5-114.3
+35 5-114.3

17x9 +15 front and 17x10 +12 rear will fit much better... you may also want to run a 245/45/17 front tire which is a little closer to OEM sizing.

Also for the price of the RT615 you may consider stepping up to the Advan Neovas (AD07) which is a better all around tire and will outhandle and grip the Falken in all conditions.

what color wheels?

bluesaint 11-30-2005 08:37 AM

probably Ti for color. i've raced on track with both rt615 and ad07 and find rt615 much better overall in braking, turn in response, sustain cornering. Also lot cheaper and more thread life. But thanks for the suggestion :)

So with 17x9+15 255/40/17 and 17x10+12 275/40/17 the tires won't be rubbing or looked too pushed out?

anotheraznguy 11-30-2005 09:23 AM

i would suggest going with a
17x9 +15
and a
17x10 +25

in the front you should be able to get away with a 255
and in the rear
you should be able to get away with at least a 275
if you went with the 17x10 +12
then you would need to roll fenders to fit something that wide.

03Z33 11-30-2005 09:43 AM

nope, they'll sit nice and flush and won't require any fender modification. The 17x10 +25 will sit in too much and look like the stock wheels.

bluesaint 11-30-2005 10:16 AM

Confused! Which is it? 03z33 says +12 will fit fine and no fender modification needed while anotheraznguy says you'll need to roll fenders..

paikman 11-30-2005 10:21 AM

i would probably go with 03z33 since he actually has tried such fitment instead of guessing on the internet about it.

anotheraznguy 11-30-2005 10:29 AM

As you all know, i have bought and sold numerous wheels and tire combinations.
My last combination was 18x10 +22 w/ 295/40/18.
I did have to roll fenders for that combination.
Now with a 10 +25 that is 3 mm more inside the wheel well.
If you were to go with a 10 +25 that means you will be able to run the 275 without much of an issue.

Stock wheels and tires on our car in the rear i believe is a 8 +30.
Now keeping that in mind if you were to have the same front spacing "similar to stock.
a 10 inch wide wheel would actually have the offset of a 10 +55

so by no means is a 10 +25 "Sunk"

bluesaint 11-30-2005 10:40 AM

At least both of you agree on 17x9 +15 in Front and 255/40/17 have no issues :D

SinCity350Z 11-30-2005 01:15 PM

I just ordered the same wheels in the same sizes.

+15 is good for the front.
+12 is what I origionally ordered for the wheel and the rim w/o tire stuck out about 1" from the fender so I sent them back for +25. Haven't got the +25 yet, but they should be fine.

btw, 17x9+ 15 will clear the brembo's?

Yes. With room to spare.

bluesaint 11-30-2005 02:32 PM

thanks. 350ZNV, so the +12 you've bought had the wheel stick out by 1inch?

SinCity350Z 11-30-2005 03:05 PM

Yeah. I don't know exactly how far out they were, but it was very noticeable.

That's because you mounted it without tires so you couldn't lower the car, that won't tell you anything until you lower the car.

look, if this was an aggressive fittment I would tell you... nobody wants to confuse you or mislead you, but in all honesty if I had to run a 17x10+12 on the rear of my car I'd put a 15mm spacer on it, that's how much extra room it leaves you with a stock rolled fender!

Actually the car was resting on a jackstand that was underneath the spring perch at the time so it was the same as it would have been on the ground.

some guy did run the same setup on the forum and fit 14inch rotoras under there, but I was not sure of the offset. I hace consider these before I just wasn't sure of teh strength of these wheels, I just don't feel like haveint a bent wheel, thats why I went with volks. Anyone know how strong are these?

SinCity350Z 12-01-2005 03:23 PM

^^^That other forum member was Rickdogg. His offsets were +15 and +35.

Side note: I just got the rears in today 17"x10" +25 and they look like a perfect fit.

Where do you get your information from? Grassroots motorsport reviewed both the tires you mention, and the AD07 performed poorly compared to both the 615 and older 215...
