who's got michelin pilot sport a/s tires?

I hate to beat a dead horse but....
My rear tires have always had 35 psi in them. I have 7500 miles on them and they have an odd wear problem.
Firstly the oem rears lasted 22,ooo miles. Wearing evenly with 35psi in them.
The michelins have always had 35psi and are balanced. the center of the tires is worn aprox. 1/16" lower than the outer edges. This condition makes my rears have a rythmic sound that i find annoying. i cannot feel or see any imperfections on the tire, besides the center of the tire being 1/16" lower than the rest. Yes i have done burnouts and i do love to catch a third, but i could count them all on one hand over the entire 29,000 miles my car has now.
my question is what the hell is wrong ?
btw i catch a third because a second is just too easy......

A tire that wears more in the center than the outer edges indicates that you have too much air in that tire. I get that problem frequently due to autoxing because its good to over-inflate your tires for auto-x. You might want to just let some air out of the rears. If your gauge is saying 35 I would wonder if your gauge is acurate, but anyway just let them down to 30 and that should help the problem.

I have PS A/S and do have the center wear problem too. I run them at 30PSI since they are new and still have the problem. I believe that's just the way the tire wear and will not be buying them again.

example. Now I have 19" Toyos and I run them at 43PSi and no wear problems

I have 255/30 and 275/30 michelin pilot sport as, only 1000 miles but so far pretty good. I am lowered 2" and negative camber 2.5 degrees, so tires don't last for me anyways, but I love them best tire ever (and I had alot of diferent brands) Also run 40-45 psi should fix the problem

silverII and WNM

silverII did you also have the rotational rythmic noise with the tires?
WNM yes putting 45 psi in the seems exactly backwards, can you explain why you think this will work? have you had the same problem?
thanks

ill try to make it brief: on a 350z 1.3-2.6 degrees of negative camber is normal depending on ride height, which will tell you that the camber is always changing as you drive, instead of a tire flat on the ground we have a tire at an angle, anyway a michelin has a max pressure (cold) of 51 psi, and at 30 or even 35 the tire is under inflated, and when un-even pressure (the inside more than the outside) occurs on an under inflated tire, it will un-naturally "squish" the tire creating a high section on the middle of the tire where the only consistant break in the tread block's are, the middle groove(s)of the tire

oh and what width rim are you using?

wnm i have a base model with the oem 17's.
thanks for the advice, can you tell me if you have had this problem and corrected it with 45psi?
your theory is interesting but i wonder if you have anything to back it up?
i would love to put 45psi in the rears , turn over a few thousand miles and have the rythmic noise go away, thanks

I have a set of the A/S in 275/40 with the same wear in the middle. Like you, I keep my psi @ 35. The outsides of the tire still look almost new, but the middle is to the wear bars. I have put a little over 18K miles on them with probably a few thousand left so I'm not complaining. I only got 10K on the stock Potenzas...

No noise or other problems, just the uneven wear.

Michelin recommands a lower air pressure on it's Sport Cups R compound. I suspect as a whole, they require less pressure.

Or you're doing burnouts a LOT ! :)
