Goodyear Eagle F1's
I just purchase a set of Goodeyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 in 255/40/19 to replace the OEM Potenzas I had. This is my review....
I am not liking these tires, AT ALL. It feels like the rear end of my car is riding on super bouncy flubber. I am guessing this is because of the softer side walls of the tires Vs the Potenzas. The tires grip well once they are done doing their soft sidewall thing. But at speed (60+) the rear end of my car feels too loose. I am not sure if this is because of the difference in the front and rear tires or not. I have the stock Potenzas on the front (super stiff sidewall). Has anyone else had this problem with these tires? I am thinking of selling these, even though I just bought them and I will lose my ass. I'll take the rough ride of the Potenzas Vs. the poor communication of the F1's all day. 3-fity |
I have the 18" on Nismo Wheels and I love them. Ride is great!!

I have them on my car too and have no complaints whatsoever. They are rated #1 by either Road & Track or Car & Driver almost all the time.

They just feel so much looser than the Potenzas I have on the front. It almost feels dangerous to drive above 70. |

F1's are overpriced IMHO, they're great performance tires, but you can get tires that perform just as well for less $$$

May feel loose due to the difference in tires on the front/rear. I know I had F1's on my Celica and lived them very much, but the previous tires were crap dry road only tires.

Interesting. My next tires will be Goodyear again.
I wonder what is the source of the soft sidewall myth. Any technical data supporting this claim? |

Yeah, it's not the F1's. I've had a FULL set on my Z for a year and they handle great. You should get a complete set of wheels and tires, especially if you are changing sizes from 18" to 19".

is it possible to run 245/40/19 in fronts and 275/40/19 in rears?

I am thinking of going with the goodyear eagle F1 as well. I am not sure weather to upgrade to 19"s or stay with 18"s. Did you guys upgrade to 19"s for looks or is there a ride difference? Also what are your thoughts on the Michelin Pilot Sport and the Nitto NT 555 Extreme Performance.

Give the tires a few weeks .... I hated them for five days then the mold release wore off and they were better. I ran 37psi to keep em stiff ... try bumping up the pressure

You mentioned that you have Bridgestone on the front and Eagles on the rear? You may have this problem because you have different treads on your Z. Not a good idea. Your treads should be the same all around.

I think I am going to pick up a set of F1's for the front too. Does 245F 255R sound like a decent stagger? Or will I get too much understeer? 3-fity |
I was also interested in the Yokohoma's, AVS ES100. Anyone have these, know if they have been a good all around tire?
