One more pic..

I'll post some more next week when the car is clean, and I hope to have the suspension done by then as well.

Mr Fairlady Feb 8, 2003 08:31 PM

damn,....they look good,..I was think of a 10 in the rear but thought the lip would be too much???

Need some Eibachs and it should sit nice,..but I see your going w/ a different setup(suspension)

NIce,...get some side shots as well

waht are the offsets?

bdiddy Feb 8, 2003 08:50 PM

I'm going to put the Eibach on as well, should be a good case study for you Mr. Fairlady. The offset on both front and back are 35mm, but the front had to come out with a spacer to clear the Brembo's AND fill that HUGE wheel well.:icon11: The rear sits perfectly in my opinion. By the way I also removed those MUDFLAPS! Looks a lot better in the rear.

rodH Feb 8, 2003 09:06 PM

looks good, btw, nice E55 in the background, I will want to take some pics with my dads CLK55 and make a few nice copies, of course those cars are auto trannies..LOL

Mr Fairlady Feb 8, 2003 09:09 PM

so they are 19 x? 8.5's-9's?

so you put spacers to clear brakes and to push em out,...thats probably what I'll have to do but I don't have Brembos' don't plan on gettin em either--but wanna make sure they stick out about like yours,..I think th eones I'm llokin @ are 19x.8 and 19x10'soffset is:

+45mm in the rear & +37, & or +45 in the front too--is that to high in the rear? what does that seem like,...still not to sharp on the whole offset....I know the lower the off-set # its closer to the hub of the wheels right?

what do spacers cost?

Yeah, it kinda sucks (but not really) when your wife's car is faster than yours...AND she can beat you in a race with a cup of coffee in her hand, and the kids laughing at you in the back seat as they blow by!

knihc2008 Feb 8, 2003 09:27 PM

~drool~

mind i ask how much? i saw eighteens running for 1200 for four, i wanna see how much the jump to 19 is.

knihc2008 Feb 8, 2003 09:27 PM

oh never mind. got it!

They're 19x8's. The 45mm in the back will be o.k, but I think you'll have a problem with the inner lip of the fender well...if you don't want to "roll" it back to keep it from rubbing the tire. 35mm or 37mm may be better. The fronts with the spacer are all the way out at 55mm. Not needed to clear the brakes, but it is necessary to fill the well.

looks daaaaaaaaaam nice! chrome would of look sick on the black! question though, with 20s on the rear and 19s on the front isn't this considerably going to mess with the over/under steer??

mbuxton Feb 9, 2003 06:32 AM

I'm curious on that too. I wanted to do 19x8.5 in the front & 20x10 or 20x9.5 on the rear. If that were the case, would one want to do like 40 series tires in the front & 35 series in the back?

No. The "over all" wheel and tire height is the same as stock. (or at least really really really close);) The Corvette and NSX run an 18/17 set up. It will put more stress on the suspension to work harder (less sidewall flex), but I'm adding the Eibach springs. (if they don't bode well with me I'll go with a coil over set up) I'll let everybody know how well it does with more contact patch and less sidewall. It has to be much better than the narrow (worthless) RE's that come on this thing... I put some thought into the tire size and decided on the 20/19 combo with the almost exact same sidewall height front and back, instead of the same wheel size and the difference in sidewall height. (like the stock set up) With that combo it's also harder to tell the difference in wheel size. (other than the huge polished lip)

These SO3's will never make it to the track. The Rays will be raped (mounted) with some gummy tires yellin' Hoosier daddy? Hoosier daddy?!? Those wheels are light and the tires will out perform any street tires on the track no matter how wide.

Lastly, IN MY OPINION chrome doesn't belong on this car. The brushed door handles will look out of place and I don't like chrome wheels on "sports cars", they are heavier and look heavier. I'v gone as far to change the "Nissan" badge on the hatch to the "Z" same as the front 1/4 badge. I'd prefer nothing, but there were pins holding the original. The less the better with me...except of course when it comes to size.:D

You could. Just try to stay within 3% of the original height. You'll lose a little width if you go that route. The 3% rule seems to be a common one for various reasons(VDC, ABS, Speedometer, etc). Here's a link if you don't already have one. If you input my numbers you'll see they're almost identical to the original. Put the original size followed by the tire size in question.

:( Week 7 is vastly approaching since I first ordered those exact same wheels. Makes me both sad AND happy to see them on another Z.

Oh well..........some day my tires will arrive :( Wheels dont exactly make my living room look any better.

Put some glass tops on them and make end tables;) . 7 weeks for tires?...they better be really cool tires at a really good price! I have trouble waiting 7 minutes for something I want that bad.

Spacers

Awsome wheels! I am a bit in the dark to the whole wheel thing but I am getting some 20s aswell F/R with a 35 mm offset. They will be getting here this comming week. I love the way your fronts fill the fender well with the spacers. But I must ask what kind of spacers did do get. Mainly, what to ask for and where to get them. Sorry for being so clue less on the spacers.

Thanks in advance,

Dave

Spacers?

I'm, clueless too. Can't you get a different offset other than 35mm's in the front to make the wheel stick out farther, or do they not make one?
