Volk GT-C ... what's the difference between face 1 and 2
just like the subject says...
what's the difference between face 1 and 2 on the volk gt-c's. |
face 2 are a more concave shape and the face 1 are more flat.
|
face 2, as mentioned are more concave and give you a larger lip (typically used in the rear).
face 1, as mentioned, are more flat to clear larger front calipers. |

This is a picture of a set of GT-Cs right before we put them on our demo car. Face-1 if for front to clear calipers. Face-2 is for rear in order to have a wider wheel and deeper lip. Hope this helps.

I'm probably getting these rims soon. So am I hearing correctly that when you buy GTC's by default they come with face1's for the front wheels and face2's on the rear? I thought they were two entirely different wheel packages.
Shawn, what kind of pricing can you offer me on the gunmetal GTC's ? I'd need a tire package too. Wouldn't mind the ones in that pic :) . Have you seen them on a Silverstone Z? I'm not sure if it would match. PM me with details please, i'm probably looking to buy within the week. |

I thought I would go ahead and repost Monkey Man's wheels on his silverstone. They look SO much better in person. The car looks incredible. Make sure to contact Monkey Man for the wheel prices. Also, FYI we have the newest Hunter TC3500 mounting machine and Hunter GSP9700 balancer to make sure the wheels come to you as perfect as possible. They allow us to measure tire sidewall stiffness for a full 360 degrees and measure vibration at three different harmonics. Then they give us information on indexing the tire to the rim for the least possible vibration at any speed. The are simply the best machines their are. For more information on these pieces of equipment see Hunter's website at www.hunter.com. These are the EXACT same pieces of equipment that are used at the Ford Experimental Vehicle Lab in Dearborn, Michigan, as well as DaimlerChysler's Viper Engineering Center. They are also required equipment for all Jaguar dealers and Audi RS6 dealers, as well as others. We invest in this type of equipment because we believe in doing things of one way, the right way. Here is a link for the PDF file for our balancer: http://www.hunter.com/pub/product/ba...159T/4159t.pdf Here is a link for the PDF file for our tire changer: http://www.hunter.com/pub/product/ti...814T/3814T.pdf I don't mean to overwhelm anyone else who reads this post, but I think it is completely reasonable to expect the best when you are making a decision on who to deal with on something like a set of wheels. This is not an air freshner that can be discarded if you are satisfied. This is something that should be right the first time, every time. Contact Monkey Man and he WILL take care of you! I really hope this information helps everybody. If there are any other technical questions on mounting and balancing issues or questions on our equipment, please don't hesitate to post the question. I will do my best to answer it in a way that is not complicated to understand so it will help the most people. Thanks, Shawn @ Street Sports |

Do they make a Face I for the rear too? If so, what width and offset are they? The reason I ask is because I really like the GT-C's but don't care for the Face II rear look.
Help please. |
Ok....found some info. Let me know if this will work?
GT-C Face I: Front 19x8.5 27mm Rear 19x9.5 33mm The look I'm trying to acheive is to basically have the front and rear wheels look the same and be pretty close to the same plane looking down the side of the car, but have a wide enough wheel in the rear to house a 275/35/19. Thanks for your input. |

I agree with you, I like like gt-c's, but the back wheel does look different from the front wheel. To me it kind of looks smaller in diameter because of the spokes curving towards you.
I don't see why what you picked out would not work, only thing is you would have to wait a long time to get it as everyone seems to be ordering face 2 for rear. I was doing some reasearch on the Rays site and found something interesting- GT-C 19x9-1/2 +24 face 2 rears that everyone seems to be using have a 2.92 inch lip. You could use GT-C 19x9-1/2 +22 face 1 on the rear and you would have a 3.43 inch lip. So you'd have spokes that look the same front and rear and a bigger lip, sounds like a win - win deal. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. |
Stone Z,
Sorry, just got online for the first time in about a week. Just moved into a new facility. Trying to get caught up now. I will try over the next few days to determine the answer to your question. It's a good question that others will probably want to know as well. shaneotool, We have measured the lip on the 19x9.5 +24 wheel and found it to be a hair over three inches. Here is the link to the picture on our website: http://www.streetsports.com/Tune/350...mages/GTC5.jpg Hope this helps. I will keep up with this the best I can. We still have a lot to do to get the new facility up and running properly. But I will do my best. Thanks, Shawn @ Street Sports |
