exactly as the title emplies. will having extremely wide rear tires, say 295's, make an NA Z slower?

eagletanggreen Sep 1, 2006 02:51 PM

yes

chichi506 Sep 1, 2006 03:04 PM

what would be a good size to run in the rear? considering i have 245's in the front. and would the slower acceleration be felt behind the wheel?

plumpzz Sep 1, 2006 03:08 PM

w/ 245's in the front and 295s in the rear, you'll have monster understeer

Next time i upgrade tires, im going for 265/35F 265/40R. That'll make it slightly oversteer on stock suspension. With upgraded suspension, depending on ur setup, it should be neutral or slightly oversteer. Wider isn't always better.. If you want higher grip, upgrade the tire, not the size.. I wish i would've known that when i first bought tires

i use a 275 tire with my 20s

A Spec Products Sep 1, 2006 04:20 PM

run 275s

275/35 or 275/40, whatever matches up better

wider tire doesnt necessarily equate better...a 295...thats super overkill

its a 350z, not a ferrari or lambo ;)

just keepin it real

just4AhoZZZ Sep 1, 2006 04:49 PM

i run 285,35,18 in the rear, and i just got the falken fk452 and i like it.. it works for me

Z1 Performance Sep 1, 2006 07:04 PM

245/40 front, 275/40 rear

or 245/40 front 275/35 rear (what I run) are the most common setups

plumpzz Sep 1, 2006 07:36 PM

adam do you get any TCS errors w/ the 275/35 w/ the 40 in teh front?
Next time im either going to run 255/35F 275/35 or 245/40 265/40.

Z1 Performance Sep 1, 2006 08:39 PM

no problems on my car

ReV2Red Sep 1, 2006 10:22 PM

275 is more than enough for NA.

dewuser Sep 1, 2006 11:14 PM

If you get 295's you will need to pair the fronts with 265's or else... Hello understeer.

Also, here some info about proper stagger:

chichi506 Sep 3, 2006 12:42 PM

would 275's be good in the rear, considering i have 245's in the front. or should i just get 265's instead and save some money?

Super Avan Z33 Sep 3, 2006 12:47 PM

255/35 front 275/35 rear
do I get oversteer or understeer?

plumpzz Sep 3, 2006 12:50 PM

Unless you drive your car like you stole it, you won't notice a difference. But, next time i upgrade, thats the setupim going w/.

lemansz20 Sep 3, 2006 12:59 PM

LOL I must be doing something wrong lol, Im running 255s in the front and ....... 305's in the rear OH YEA lol, but thats for daily and for the nice wheels. I have r comps on my stocks 265's all around for the track so maybe I dont count lol.

Bday350z Sep 3, 2006 01:53 PM

^wow, do you have any pics of the back of your car?

Bday350z Sep 3, 2006 01:54 PM

My dad has 315's on the Porsche and 325 or 335's on the bmw 4.8is but I've never seen 305's on a Z before.

NA&CH Sep 3, 2006 05:32 PM

what would you guys say for a 18x9 et22 front rim? a 245 or 255? and on a 18x10 et25 rear?

Thanks guys. Need tires BAD. :(

InSaNeZ Sep 3, 2006 08:41 PM

I am running 295s in the rear, and I haven't noticed any difference.
It all depends how heavy the wheel/tire is also.
