New Z+Nail in tire+dealer= nota damn thing
So on Aug 15th I bring my new Z home and have enjoyed it very much since then. As of today I have put 347 miles on the car as it sits in the garage during the week. Well I have had to keep putting air in the RR tire everytime I drive it so today I pull the wheel off and sure enough there is a nail in the inside shoulder of the the tire. Took it down to Discount Tire and there wasn't much that could be done with that type of a puncture. Next the dealer gets a call from me and after speaking to both the service mgr and my sales mgr they decline any responsability and fair enough but now there is nothing left to do but fork over the $273 for a new rear tire.
Knowing that neither the dealer will attempt or offer any compensation, tire replacement or discount on a new tire I need to know are there any other avenues I should travel before shelling out the dough? |
I feel your pain, but there really isnt anything you can do. The dealership or you dont really know if it is your fault or if it was like that on the lot.. 247 bucks is a lot. Check out the tire sites online and get a comparable tire. The stock one sucks anyway. I got mine for 130 for 275/40/18s. (+ shipping)

That blows. Oddly enough my nissan dealership which has the worst rep of any dealership in our town fixed my tire without charging me a dime. I didnt even buy the car from them. I had like a nail and two screws in one tire and they repaired it without question. im sure the dealer doesnt owe it to you to fix it but you would think after spending your money with them they would do something.

this is just a good reminder to buy the discounttire dire certificates.

Check all the fine print in your tire warranty. My bet is that it will not cover anything other than abnormal tread wear. This is truly unfortunate for you. The dealer, if worth their salt could offer you the tire at their cost or a little over that. You should ask for their help and if no help, then spread the word to all that you can about their customer service. The squeaky wheel gets the grease! Good Luck!

After driving the car for 20 days, it would be difficult to show that the car was sold to you with a nail in the tire. It happens. Time for a new tire.

i think discount tire might be the best way to go. last time i bought from them they said they would replace it free of charge if something like that happened. not sure if they still do that or not. and their prices are hard to beat as well.
