Let's try this again...will this tire fit?
This for drag racing only not for daily driving...
I have 15 x10 wheels with 5.5 backspacing. Will a 325/50/15 which equals to a 28 X 13.50R15 fit? I don't mind if I have to roll the fenders |
10" wheel with +12.7mm offset
That wheel alone will stick out 4mm more then a 10.5" +22mm wheel... so I don think so unless you roll and pull the fenders quite a bit... |

Jason, could you maybe PLEASE post a sticky that once and for all states what will and will not fit on a Z, Calculators don't help unless you know the dimensions of the car and what will fit I now know why high powered Z's have traction problems....because no decent racing tire will fit on the damn car |
I think it was another thread of yours that I explained how backspacing / offset is figured...
You would need that 10" wheel with something more like a 6.5" back spacing... that would be like a +37mm offset... there is alot of room in the wheel well that can be used.... i dont really know your set up... but if you want better traction drag racing... go with a 9" wheel (will be lighter) get a sticky 295ish size tire, and put 0 camber... |
From your other thread...

So I ordered the Jegs Sport Star 5 Spoke Wheels: 15x8 bolt 5.4-5 back spacing 4.5 Should I be concerened or is the 4.5 backspacing just fine? here's a pic http://www.jegs.com/images/photos/555-67071.jpg 4.5" back spacing is the same as +12.7mm Offset... 15x8 +12.7mm Take width of wheel (8). Subtract the amount of back spacing (4.5) and you get 3.5. Divide the width of the wheel in half (8/2 = 4). 4 - 3.5 = .5" offset 8 - 4.5 4 - 3.5 5 / 25.4 = 12.7 Metric conversion... 25.4mm = 1" .5" = 12.7mm |
10" wheel w/ 6.0" Backspacing = 10" +25mm
10" Wheel w/ 4.0" Backspacing = 10" -25mm 10" Wheel w/ 5.0" Backspacing = 10" +-0mm 10" Wheel w/ 5.5" Backspacing = 10" +12mm 10" Wheel w/ 4.5" Backspacing = 10" -12mm 10" Wheel w/ 6.5" Backspacing = 10" +37mm etc etc |
none of this helps when I don't know what fits the car.
I was specifially told that a 6.5 backspacing will not fit that's why I special ordered the one with 5.5 also they do not make 15.9 it's 15x8 or 15x10 the only 295 DR MT makes is 30" tall which is why I wanted the 325/50. The only other option is a 275/60 which is not wide enough. I'm starting to feel I have to go back to running slicks |
I dont know what they offer in the wheels you are looking at, ...
10" wheel with 6.5" backspacing is the same as 10" +37mm I had 10.5" +30mm on my Z and had pleanty of room on the inner wheel well with 295/35/18... 10" w/ 6.5" Backspacing will be 1mm less clearance then my 10.5" +30mm and leave an extra 13mm clearance to the fender... Do they have a 6.25" back space? that would be Perfect with a 10" and that size wheel.. as far as the tire, it will be running it close without rolling the fender especially if running 0 or close to 0 camber |
all the backspacing has to be custom made. so what I need to do is ask them (centerline) if I can send the wheels back and have them change the backspacing to 6.25
and then the 325/50/15 would fit? I currently am running -1.2 camber (since I still want decent street handling) I don't mind if I have to roll the fender can you confirm please |

I don't know how much power you're putting to the ground...Could you let us know and also tell us exactly which model MT you are looking at?
http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/strip.php ET Drag Radial? ET Drag Sport Compact? ET Street? ET Street Radial? As was previously recommended to me: First, stay at the stock tire height (27"). Second, find a tire whose width is appropriate for your power level. |

are there other options? if you are running the -1.2 camber, are you lowered at all? and they don't hook enough. I have the tein Flex but have them as close to stock height as possible |

Now I'm putting down 200 more whp and I don't want to run slicks anymore 1) because I hate the ice skating feeling and 2) they don't allow me to run slicks in the street class at IDRC |

and they don't hook enough. I have the tein Flex but have them as close to stock height as possible maybe look at softer springs in the rear... going to a fatter tire is not going to do much with the negitive camber you have... under acceleration load its going to be even more negitive... that is a big height difference in tires as well.... its like 3" diameter difference... the smaller the diameter, the lower weight / less rotational mass... better overall acceleration... |
I have the 9 kg tein's in the back compared to the 12 kg that come with the kit. It's still a ttad stiff but much better than the 12's
If I have to go to 0 camber I will. Just a bit worried about daily driveability it's too bad that tires go from 26 to 28 a 26 with a 295 width would be perfect but no one makes those for 15" wheels psi is about 14 on the et street radials |
If I go with the 275/60/15 (28x11.5) on a 8" wheel with 5.5 backspacing will that work?
|
I can't catch a break here...
I called centerline and they do not take the wheels back because they are custom but they can change the back spacing. They only do 1/2 " increments though...will a 6.5 fit or do I need to go with a 6"? I could also have them change the 15x10 into 15x8 but that would cost me $180 per wheel, so I figured screw it I try and sell these and just go back to Welds but guess what....they are on back order for the next 1 1/2 months. so my only option is to change the ones I got to 15X8 from 15x10 or to change the back spacing to 6.0 or 6.5 and keep them as 15x10 of course only the 325/50/15 will fit the 10 if I go with either the 275/60/15 or 275/50/15 I need the 8" I am soooo frustrated about this. Someone please advise |
