So I bought a set of +35 5Zigen FN01R-C's for auto-x/track wheels. The offsets sounded high and I have a friend with a set of the exact same wheels in +15 offset. Well, I put a tire on mine and a tire on his and we test fit last night.

It seemed like the +15 fit better on the rear of my Z and his 240sx and the +35 fit on the front of our cars great. Does that sound about right? Should I trade 2 wheels with him and stick with the +15 in the rear? It seems like it fits more flush with the fender than the +35 would.

Also wondering if with the +35F and +15R I will be able to fit a 265/45/17 on the front and a 275/45/17 on the rear. I'll have pics of how the wheels look on my Z tonight and I'll post them up. Thanks in advance for the help, these offsets are driving me nuts.

Consider the position of the wheel-tire when racing. In the corners you are going to push the tops of the inside and outside tires in the opposite direction. Its possible to lift the tire completely off the ground and leave it hanging for a second.

Which offset offers the best clearance in these situations?

From the looks of the 245/45/17 that I mounted last night, the +15 looks like it's *almost* flush with the fender. It looks like it will fit and ride fine, but I was hoping to hear from someone who has run a +35F +15R setup.

I assume you are talking about 9" wide wheels. I run the +35 set up all around with 275/40/17's. No rubbing although the rear certainly does look tucked in. +15 in the rear should work, but I would rather sacrafice some looks for wheels that can be rotated front/rear, especially since it's just for track use.

OEM offset is closer to +35mm.

It's not a number they "invented for fun".

Other offset value will also work.

How would it upset handling? It looks like the same size tires will fit whether I ran +35 all around or a +15 in the rear.

When i bought my wheels i had at get a 28 offset in the rear and a 42 in the front. I know that since i put the wheels on the handling is all off. The front end feels wishy washy while the back end feels really stable. I have ordered a set of 15 mm spacers to help with the problem (hopefully)

tire size is only part of the equation - you're now creating a very large stagger on your contact patch front to rear - this can be used to an advantage or disadvantage and can promote, or hinder push, rear end stability, etc. depending on the exact combo you use.

If it were me, I would not run that much of an offset stagger front to rear

not sure the stock offset is dictated by performance/handling alone. Engineers probably have other factors to cope with in figuring out an "ideal" offset.

As a performance point of reference I would rather take the nismo LMGT4 sizes for 350z (+25 front and +30 rear).

How about the 17x9 with 35 offset front and the 17x10 with 25 offset rear? I have been seriously thinking about this combo for Solo 1 use. Yes, No, Comments...

That would work too.

This is my FN-01RC, 17x10 +35mm with Toyo RA1 275/40R17

+25mm offset will bring the rear tires 10mm closer to the fender.

run 275s all around, and get the +15 rear if you can from your 240sx buddy.

I'm running +15 rear and +35 front now, probably could have put 275's up front but I went with the 255's.

The brand wheels are 5Zigen FN01R-C, they're a really cheap and lightweight option for some track wheels... I'm loving my set so far.
