can't decide between 18 and 19" rims... need help and feedback
 

I can't decide between 18" and 19" mags.... for my roadster...

our roads here are not very nices ... but, is there a good difference between the 18" and the 19" mags wheels... in terme of riding...comfort...?

I have RS*R springs on my roadster...

I don't what to know if one is better that the other ! I just want to know if there is a big difference in riding... if not, I will take the 19"...but if there a big difference, and if I lost a lot in confort, I will go in 18"...

hm there is a little difference.....you could go .../45/18 and ...35/19
so you have more ruber under your a'* :D
which means the 18 are quiet more comfortable than the 19.....
i noticed that when i changed my 19" Volks, and put on my OEM 18" rims.

but i think it´s all about looks......so :cool:

if I go in 18", I will take 245-40-18 in front and 275-40-18
and in 19" I will go in 245-35-19 and 275-35-19...

yes there is more rubber under your ass in 18" and yes 19" look better... but like I said, the road here are a little ruff....

If you got from a 18 to 19-inch wheel, most likely you will drop the series. So yes there is a difference in ride. But no one cares. Go 20-inches.

I care ! I'm working with my car, I do a lot of millage with my Z... I love the look of the 19" but don't want to put a pillow under my a*...

any more feedback from 18" and 19" owners.... anybody tried both ?

Consider the performance angle: 18" forged alloys will be lighter and offer lower unsprung weight for better handling, braking and acceleration. There's a bigger selection of tire models and they're cheaper to boot.

19" (or bigger) wheels have the tendency to bend rims on potholes or road imperfections, but may offer the bling factor for some.

Your choice, but IMO it should be an easy one...

I would go with the 18's and drop it more.

Depends what you want. 19's are heavier, keep that in mind if you like to keep weight down to go faster.

I would honestly do 18's. I ordered my Volk Time Attacks 9.5x19 and 10.5x19 and by the time 3 months came around for waiting for them .. I changed my mind. I want 18's now because you can run better tires .. like r compounds and whatnot. I will occasionally be going to the track .. 19's are a bit overkill for the track. I figure if you just dump the car even more the 18's will look just as good and out perform the 19's in braking and acceleration(yes only by a little, I know). Im also on the road to 300whp N/A .. so Im looking to really make this Z as quick N/A monster, while lightening it up a bit. If your boosted with 400hp or something like that .. you can afford to be running 19's...

This is what I have with the Hotchkis springs which I suspect are more mild than the RS*R. I like this setup quite a bit and I dunno if the roads an possibly be any worse than they are here in So Cal. Ride quality is actually really good.

I've only been in a Z w/ 19's once and it wasn't all that comfortable although it could have just been this particular one.

I have that exact 18" tire size with TSW Mondellos (18"x8" and 18"x9") and I love it. I wanted to use my 18" tires and not buy new 19" tires. I think they look just fine and probably ride a little better than 19's.

i had stock 17s at first, ride was soft.. maybe too soft
i then put 19s on that looked great but it was a little harsh and acceleration took a hit, not anything unbearable, i just had to slow down alot to avoid damaging the tires and rim, slowing down alot= accelerating more + hit on performance resulted in pretty crappy mpg
i then put on 18s, a good balance for me.... but 19s look better =\....=/

Theres no doubt you will feel a difference between 18 and 19 but the 19 inch ride is not bad at all. Are you talking about magnesium wheels? If you are, I think it will be a little too much for daily driving and if you end up bending one of the wheels, you are going to be crying your eyes out. Id say stick with the 19 inch, it will look proper on a roadster.
