Decided on Volk GTS 19's..what is offset? lowering car?
I finally decided on the Volk GTS 19's, gray with chrome/polished lip, but now what else do i need to find out?
first, id like the wheels to have that 'deep' look. in my opinion it gives the car a nice stance, visually. What do i need to get that look? i see quite a few threads about offset, and im pretty sure it has something to do with it since a quick search reveals that offset means the distance between the center of the wheel to where it mounts to your car. by that same rational a negative offset(i think) means the wheel will sink into the car while making the lip look as if its sticking out more. second, i have a 2006, so my tires right now are 8.5"-F, 9.5"-R wide, right? Should i stick with the same tire width, or go ahead and bump up 1" on both front and rear, so 9.5"-front, 10.5" rear? im sure most of you will say go bigger, but i thought id ask just to cover my ground. last, is lowering the car ofcourse, ive seen a few users here who throw on aftermarket wheels, but leave stock suspension and the car ends up looking like its walking on stilts...what do i need to give the car a nice lowered stance? any ideas/pics and some suggestions on WHERE to buy would be nice. thanks id like to buy from site sponsors, but can i get a better deal locally? im in miami,fl so theres lots of wheel shops around here. |
jes-z is going to be pissed, lol. you want to go +17, +18 in the rear....those are the offsets and it will give you a 5 inch lip in the rear. maybe go with a 285 tire in the rear but you will have to roll your fenders but it will give you the stance ur looking for.

Use a offset calculator to compare your current wheels to the new wheels. With the new dimensions, check the car with a tape. Do you clear the suspension, brakes calipers and fenders? Reference: http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

The GTS in either offset will clear suspension & BBK but rear fender clearance is a different issue..
I would get 9.5 +17 & 10.5 +18 |
thanks for the ideas, keep em coming
