Those of u with 20's...yes another thread

I upgraded my 03 touring wheels and tires to 20x8.5 +20(F) and 20x10 +25(R) with Falken 452 255/35/20 and 285/30/20 respectively. My question to those of you with this setup, will I rub if I lower on S-Tune/Tein H-tech/Hotchkis? I only want a subtle drop, my last ride was dropped on Eibach's pro-kit which was only suppose to be a 1" drop but ended up at 1.3" I've read threads for several days, this sounds like it has been covered, but many times tire sizes and offsets are not included in posts. Attached a couple of pics so those with my knowledge than I can see the wheel gap as it sits now.

I have 20x10 +25 or 30 i think and lowered on Tanabe GF210's. no rubing at all.

the 285's concern me...i'm thinking you'll have to roll

sacspe May 1, 2007 09:43 AM

Mr. Drifter...what size tires do you have out back?

a tire size would help.

Anyone else?

The 255 and the 285 tires concern me on the rubbing issues. I am running 20x8.5 245/35/20 and 20x10 275/30/20 dropped on Eibach ProKits. I love the way the car looks no rubbing whats so ever. However I know if I went with a 285 in the rear I would need to roll the quarter Panel. And the front 255 might rub when full turning. I think it will rub on the plastic inner lining. Thats just MO though.

Yeah, I'm most concerned with the fronts. As it sits now, I have about 3/4 inch wheel gap in the front and a little over and inch in the back. I was hoping to sneak by with the S-tunes or hotchkis, but I don't think its gonna happen. Next time I need tires with less section width.

I have the exact setup 20x8.5 & 20x10 both +25 offset. I noticed you guys have VDC. Does it go crazy with your tire setup. I'm shopping for tires now. I want to get the 245/35 front & 275/30 rear, but everyone says it will mess the VDC up. Any problems with yours? Thanks

CAVZ33 May 2, 2007 03:28 PM

I had that setup 255/35/20 and 285/30/20 25+ all around with S-tune and no rubbing. The only problem I had was the slip sensor would turn on and cut the gas when taking turns or sudden lane change. Almost got me killed on the freeway.

Shinin350z May 2, 2007 03:35 PM

Thats what I was afraid of. I guess I will go with 245/30 & 285/30. Just to keep the stagger and the VDC will be happy. I would still like to run a 35 series in the front though.

I have 20x8.5 front and 20x10 rear with 255/35/20 front and 275/30/20 rear with the Eibach Prokit drop...Absolute no problems with any of the electronic nannies and absolutely no rubbing...Dont know the offset though sorry :(

Sometimes on the expansion joints on the freeway the TCS slip light will flash and cut power. Thats really about the only time. TunerZ33, how much clearance did you have front and rear with your fenders?

I think:thinking: it was 1 1/2 inch rear and 1 inch in the front.

RedBullRR May 7, 2007 07:58 AM

No problems with my VDC.

+1 Lowered on GF210s 1"F/1.2"R drop ... no rubbing. I rolled my rear fenders just for precaution.

RedBullRR-
I'm going to have a very similar set up on my 05 SS (thinking F 245/35/20 and R 275/30/20 but with F 20/9 R 20/10) My question is: how much did you lower front and rear with the Eibach ProKit? Thanks.

cali Z Sep 26, 2007 09:48 PM

Did you get the tires yet? 245/35/20 and 285/30/20 on 8.5 and 10's are exactly the same height = 26.7 inches //// if you run 255/35/20 on front, it will be taller /// or if you run 275/30/20, it will be lower in rear.... these specs are from Falken......fyi...... I have the first set up, stock springs, front is fine but rear only needs to be lowered 1/2 to 3/4" and that can be achieved by cutting rear upper spring cushion (DIY on this forum)
